What Linux
non stated, of 100s.
why post lacking such key facts.
NO PC sated, just a nebuluas complaq.
no OS stated, just linux something
why not ask on YOUR linux forum.
try Ubuntu? yet?
best is to match PC old to Linux old.
but be impossible for me to guess what PC you own.

I'm what you'd call computer illiterate beyond searching, sending emails, downloading the odd program etc. . The computer in question is a Compaq Evo D510 and had been running on the internet via Cable for close to a year when it stopped connecting to the internet, as mentioned I'm running LINUX MINT 18 Xfce

    so open the case
    left side.
    see those PCI slots
    see that NIC card
    see the words on it,

on card and even on top of the big chip
we match drivers to THAT and that alone for ethernet. this PC. 16 years old.
    anything can be there.
    cheers.

Linux only supports a small set of NIC chips
some wifi and ethernet. (topic networking)
each build and distribution different and each year. (find 16 year old linux?)
and prying out the list from them is hard.

if you learn to read the open sources, (dont)
you can learn what they linked in for drivers. at built time.

If you try RED HAT or SUSE (enterprise)
We pay for these and due to that fact.
    we get better documentation....

    here are some mint answers
    how to add a driver.
    https://www.howtogeek.com/213488/how-to-...

    see the word EVERY there,
    yes,pain.

    so what card is there.?

If you think that is tricky or hard
try WIN10-64 on PCs older than 2007, good luck. (the anti,on 64bit processors was raised. higher) oops and worse on fresh loads.oops 2.

What kind of router are u uaing, if you are ccnnecting via a wired connection, you need to rt click on my network, "on the desktop"go to properties, add a new connection, and let the wizard walk you through the setup, it just isn't set up right for the network, you can also use the one that says connect to a home network.

SOURCE: Internet Connection Problem on One Computer

By any chance, are you trying to use something other than Windows to manage the wireless adapter? If you are, remove it.

Now, Click on Start, right click on Network highlight properties, and click on manage network connections on the Tasks menu.
Your two options will be the icons for your LAN and Wireless Network. Is it enabled and without red or yellow marks? It could be disable, it could be not connected and you can't view wireless networks because the switch is off, or it may just nut see your unsecure network (unlikely).

If the above is clear, right click on the wireless and highlight Properties and left click so it brings up the Networking tab. Highlight IPv4 and click on Properties. Make sure the Obtain dots are ticked. That should work, since you are running unsecured.
If it already is, check the red X or if it isn't click OK and close down the box.

Now, back to where your Wireless card is showing, right click it and you have Disable, Connect/Disconnect, Status, Diagnose etc.

If you're still Disconnected but not Disabled, click on Connect/Disconnect. Does it show your wireless network?

By this time, it should. If it doesn't post back. The other possibility is that you take your computer to a wireless internet cafe, McDonalds, Panera Bread, or motel with WiFi and test it there.

SOURCE: I have a tm502g modem and it keeps disconnecting

The 502 cannot be reset by unplugging it. It has a battery. There is a reset right in the middle on the back. There is a pinhole and you push a toothpick or unrolled paperclip inside the hole and it resets. There are a couple of issues here. Does the EMTA (modem) turn off and reset, knocking you off or does your computer go off while the modem is fine (you will still have phone). If you still have phone then you have another problem. You have a router or a bad ethernet cable. If the modem is going offline I bet you have a splitter on the coax coming into your house. One lead from the splitter goes to your tv and the other your modem. If that is happening it is your splitter. It isnt bad, you just want to re-seat your cables into that splitter. Just undo them, push them in and out of the splitter a few times and your modem will go back online for another year or so

I tried to move my hard disk and cd/rom drive to a dell tower but did not work and now when i put them back in my compaq evo i am only getting 3 beeping sounds when i boot up then it turns its self off ...

Hearing more than ONE beep is "bad" news.

Check that the wires from the fan on top of the CPU are connected to the power-supply pins on the motherboard, so that the fan spins when power is supplied.

Check that the RAM is correctly seated in its slots.

Check that the video-card is correctly seated in its slot.

Disconnect the power-connectors from the disk-drive and from the CD-ROM drive, and then start your computer. If it still beeps, without these devices attached, then these devices are *NOT* the source of the problem.

If all else fails, take the computer to a qualified technician.

Since you are using the Internet I must assume you are using the Dial up settings. I may expect that this AT&T service is DSL. In Internet Settings there is a tab marked "Connections" and the Dial Up settings are set to "Always Dial My Default Connection". Click on "Never Dial a Connection" and this problem should be solved. Next thing is to ensure that the DSL connection is connected properly since if this is not setup correctly you won't even get online until you reset the "Connections" tab to the original setting.

Car just stopped running. Lost power suddenly.

Find an inductive pickup indicator for spark. Place on distributor cap to see if spark is at coil internal tower. If no spark at internal tower, look at ignition module or pickup coil. Ignition modules are prone to failure on 626's. But if you have spark at tower but not at the wire end, then your rotor is gone.

The only thing you can do is to check to see if the installed memory is making contact. To do that, open up the access panel, unclip the memory and then reinstall it. If that doesn't fix it, you're into a trip to the shop.
