It is often a damaged accelerator (Potentiometer). Sometimes the shaft on the wigwag breaks the contacts in the accelerator from being moved too vigorously when going over a bump too fast. A technician would need to repair this for you. Happy scooting. Regards Chris… info@mymobility.co.nz

SOURCE: how to take off front forks to rebuild

Relatively straight forward. Pull the brake caliper and tire off, turn signals if fork mounted, and loosen the clamps on the triple trees. Twist them a little for easier removal

SOURCE: pride celebrity deluxe comfortcoach 1v problem-

Usually when a scooter dies, there is an event that preceded the dead state that caused the fault. What were you doing before it went dead?

The biggest culprit for scooters and power chairs is moisture. With a scooter, there are two components most susceptible. One is located inside the top of the tiller and it is an electonics board about 6"x4" in size. If you had the scooter out in the rain without protection over the tiller, water can encroach into this area and short the board. Or, a coke or coffee spill can short it. There's a fuse on the board and if it is blown, then likely the board is shot as the fuse merely keeps the tiller from going into a total meltdown in the event of a short. Boards run about $25.00 to $45.00 to replace. Inspect it and look for any signs of overheating or corrosive buil-up and see if the fuse has blown.

The second component is located under the shroud beneath the seat. It is a small metal box which is the power control module and it controls all of the operations of the scooter. It has several wires going into and coming out of it (on-board chargers for some scooters will only have one wire going in and one coming out, sometimes two). These boxes are water resistant, but are susceptible to damage if the scooter has been run through a puddle and a lot of water has splashed up onto it. These are several hundred dollars to replace, but first check all of the fuses coming off the batteries that will lead from the battery to this control box and insure that it isn't a blown fuse. These fuses generally don't blow unless the scooter was operated beyond its capabilities, like driving it in sand, mud or other unstable terrain that puts an enormous strain on the motor and pulling a lot of juice from the batteries. Finally, check all of the connections that clip together. Don't rely on a visual inspection, take them apart, and reconnect them all to insure a good, tight fit.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Pride Celebrity Deluxe Mobility Scooter - Serial Number

Hi. The serial number will be on a sticker on the upright support that holds up the seat. You will have to lift of the seat, and take the cover off the batteries to see it. It should be on the front of the deat support. Neil.

Cant start my Celebrity X scooter. Seems to drop into free wheel on power demand.

Are there any fault codes? if so check your manual. Is the speed setting turned down low?. The click is the brake releasing so that's ok. Motor brushes may need attention.

More on Celebrity X motor overheating. Brushes look good. Brake does not seem to be dragging, Batteries are about 5 years old but hold a good charge when not in use for months,

If the motor is overheating, it is drawing far more current out of
the batteries than it is supposed to. Assuming it is 2 x 13v x 33ah
batteries, these are good for about 2 to 3 years on my scooter and 'wheelchair. AGM (absorbent glass mat) lead acid batteries do deteriorate over time due to battery chemistry.

Although the batteries may appear to take a charge
and the voltage 12.6volt x 2 = 25.2 volts nominal, with no load
on them, the motor controller takes a whack of current to get you going.

I have an digital voltmeter/ammeter installed on my Pride XL scooter and I was amazed how much current the motor/motor controller takes from the batteries. 50 to 80amps on startup.

If the battery voltage drops due to the age of the batteries, as the
energy is being used up from them, the current required by the
motor for rotation has to go up, and that will cause overheating of the controller and the motor. It is Ohms law plain and simple
the less voltage available-the more current required to do the
work and current creates the heating effect.

I replace my batteries every two years. Can't take a chance on
being stuck with discharged batteries.

MY PRIDE CELEBRITY XL SCOOTER JUST STOPPED IT IS IN FREE WHEEL AND WONT ENGAGE IN TO GEAR

Sounds like a blown transaxle. If the scooter has had heavy use or a heavy rider this would not be uncommon after 3-5 years of use.

Turn key on pride celebrity scooter. everything looks normal-all lights on does not run. i am a mobility tech

As a mobility tech you can log onto the Pride Service website and access the technical troubleshooting guides. There is a good one for the Celebrity X . If your company has a dealer account with Pride you can go on-line and request a log-in for tech/dealer access for illustrated parts breakdowns, parts ordering, service manuals and trouble-shooting guides etc. It may take 24 hours for the log-in approval but if you call in the AM they may be able to expedite your request. iPride and Pride service are very effective in providing all the information you will need. Hope this helps.
