My Maytag Ensignia washer is not spinning well. It bangs side to side with even the smallest loads. It seems like something is loose. Is this something I can fix myself or do I need a repair mans help. Melodie

The tub had springs on it to keep it balance. Take off the top of the washer and check the springs make sure they are connected and not broken if so replace it.

Try leveling the washer... If the washer is level, then don't wrap the clothes around the agitator...drop the clothes straight in, on top of each other evenly around the agitator. The Ensignia washer has a Dual action agitator... That means the clothes roll over them selves, instead of moving side to side, as with a traditional agitator. wrapping the clothes around the agitator will cause the load to be un balanced and then cause the "banging" noise... this should take care of the problem...

Why does the Drum spin erratic even without clothes in it?

might be a warped spin basket or the dampers could need to be replaced. could even be a bad spin bearing. if it was bearing, normally would be associated with a loud noise during the spin cycle though.

Could be a loose basket nut, or on the bottom tub support there are a few springs that help locate the tub. One of the springs could have come off or broke.

Snubber ring that tub and spin basket assembly sits in is most likely worn. Very inexpensive part but extensive labor involved. I would suggest calling a competent service tech.

My Maytag Ensignia washer is making a clunking noise like something is loose when it is in the rinse cycle.. also does not appear to be spinning as well as it should. What could be wrong with it

Mine had the same problem! Turned out to be the transmision going bad. My machine is only three years old. Transmision cost over $250 Not worth fixing. The inside of this machine is very poor quality. I am very disapointed. Maytag not the quality it once was. I WILL NEVER WASTE MY MONEY ON A MAYTAG PRODUCT AGAIN
