It is probably not threaded correctly. If you have a book for your machine, look up the threading sequence.

SOURCE: no zig and cotton keeps breaking

Make sure you have a new sharp needle installed for both problems and sometimes you need a particular kind of needle for the fabric. Also some machines don't deal well with 100% cotton thread. For some reason it gets caught up in the machine somewhere and breaks. Gutterman and Metrosene make excellent although slightly more expensive threads. Coats and Clark thread is good too. They make an all cotton thread but it doesn't come in as many colors. If you have the old spools of cotton thread from Walmart, just use them for topstitching if you need the color. Other wise, use them for hand stitching or throw them away. One more thing that I can think of off hand, one of my machines does not like lining fabric. For some reason the thread breaks if I stitch really fast. If you have to use that thread, you may try sewing slowly. One more thing, when was the last time your machine was serviced? This can make a huge difference if it's been awhile and you use the machine a lot. Good luck. Hope any of this helps.

SOURCE: I have a Husqvarna Viking quilt 870 sewing

The overload message is usuall due to a bind in the mechanical function of the machine. When the motor has an extra "load" caused by something like a tight belt or dry bearing, it "overloads" the motor and the error message is displayed. It is doubtful your problem is computer related. Either way a trip to your service tech is required. If you continue to sew with it, you do run the risk of possible damage to some other parts of your machine. The computer portion of your Husqvarna is guaranteed for 5 years and the mechanical parts carry a 20 or 25 year guarantee depending on when you purchased your machine. A copy of your bill of sale from a Husqvarna Viking dealer or a stamped warranty card is the proof of purchase needed to obtain warranty replacement of parts. Labor is only guaranteed for 1 year.

SOURCE: sewing machine tension?

Hi! This might be a tension issue, but it also could be caused by the needle. For stretchy fabric you need to use a stretch needle or at the least, a ballpoint needle. (see my tip about which needle to use).

Let me know if this solves the problem, ok?

Happy Sewing!

How to thread the needle

Can be done in different ways. I use a needle thread starter. I also use a method of feeling the nettle and the tread. Cut the tread for a clean end, place the tread between your thumb and finger so that you can not see the tread. Place the needle in the other hand with the eye of the needle horizontal to your thumb and finger. With your eyes closed you can feel your way to the tread with the eye of the needle, pushing the eye of the needle over the tread. You have treaded the needle. It takes some practice, but when you get it, it's a good trick to show someone that is having a hard time treading the needle. You can do it with your eyes closed.

Why is it not sewing, it's treaded right the bobbin is wound right, but it does not work

THREADING a machine can vary from machine to machine. THEN the kind of and quality of the thread will make a big difference. Don't stop with the cheapest thread. Make sure it has poly cotton instead of straight cotton. Some wear the fibers and they fall into the threading mechanism area. Resulting in having to have it taken apart.

try changing the needles, if that doesn't help then having the machine checked to see the timing is off would be a good idea..

The cotton keeps catching on the plastic tension wheel dial, that the cotton goes around in the treading patern to the needle. i think there may be notchs in the plastic but am unsure. it jams ther nredle.

I think that you have to go to www.brother-usa.com and download the manual for free. Then you can enlarge the diagrams and learn to thread your machine because it sounds like you are not familiar at all with the threading of it. Try finding someone who sews in your area to teach you some machine basics because you will be able to understand it easier. If, that fails go on you tube and see some demos on sewing machine threading annd sewing for free.

Bobbin tread is loose when sewing on cotton material Have adjusted tension, it is on 9. It is fine when I sew denim, which I sew a lot but I am trying to sew cotton now. I have cleanned machine, changed...

Have you checked not only the top tension but also the bottom (bobbin) tension? Top tension is usually a lever wheel etc on the machine (depending on model). To tighten the bobbin tension you need to tighten the small screw on your bobbin casing.

I don't suppose it could be as simple as this?
