I have a JD 345 with a Kawasaki ohv liquid cooled FD 590. Was running fine then just died, no strange noises. It spins over fine but has no compression in either cylinder. Thank You John

You have dirt in the fuel tank and it sucks the dirt up on the filter that is attached to the pump. After the machine stalls, the dirt falls off and it will restart and run for a few min.

SOURCE: on john deere 345 18 hp kawasaki liquid cooled

Water pump gear or the water pump impeller could have failed. If its the pump and due to it being at the bottom front side of the engine it would take some time for it to boil due to the fan is always pulling air down thru the radiator and its at the very top of engine. Cool water on top and really hot coolant around the cylinder with sensor. I'm sure it's the pump.

I have a JD 425 Y-Twin liquid cooled 20 hp ohv k series Will start but will only stay running at half throttle with choke pulled all the way out will kill if I pull choke in evertime.

There should be a sensor on the bottom of the carberator. It works like a plunger. Alot of times it will stick slightly open allowing just enough gas to come through to idle. To the best of my knowledge it's not a real expensive part. But if yours doesn't have one then there is trash in your carb and you'll have to clean it. Hope this helps you.

My Kawasaki twin engine model FD 590 on my lawn tractor sputters, looses power and shuts down after about 15 min of running. Will star after it cool down. Cause please??

Immediately check for spark after it dies. A failing ignition module will quit after it gets hot (about 10 minutes) then work again after it cools. Other causes could be a blocked tank vent; try to run till it starts to act up and loosen the fuel cap. See if it starts to run right again or if it does die it starts right back up. A sticking shut-off solenoid, sticking float needle or partially clogged fuel filter can also cause these symptoms. They let some fuel in but not enough and eventually the motor starves for fuel. then slowly the fuel fills back into the bowl and it will run again for awhile till it runs out of gas again.

HARD STARTING 20 HP KAWASAKI/345 JOHN DEERE

Try taking the engine shroud off and cleaning the magnets on the fly wheel. Also clean the two little prongs that are really close to the fly wheel. Use some emery cloth or fine sandpaper. They might be a little rusty and your not getting good contact.

Let me know if this helps.
