How do I delete my messages of my messenger - Computers & Internet

Is that via web browser or messenger app? what phone are you using ? iOS or Android ?

Is messanger set as the default?

1)Launch yahoo messenger and sign in, click "messenger" and select "prefernces"
2)Select "conversation history" and click "view conversation history"
3)Click on contacts name on left side, scroll through chat history on right side until you locate the conversation you want to delete/ click the "trash" icon that appears when youhover over the conversation, and click "delete"

We use Facebook daily to do conversation with our friends, relatives and sometimes with our profession clients too.
It's very important for us to get those conversations back if mistakenly they can deleted.
Some common situations that lost Facebook messages you can recover from:

Delete the folder in which the history is saved or delete the chat history within the instant message program.
Popular instant messenger programs, such as Yahoo!, Windows Live and Skype, simplify the process of clearing message archives.

Delete archived messages in Yahoo! Messenger.
Open Yahoo! Messenger.
Click on "Messenger" on the toolbar and select "Preferences."
Click "Clear Archive Now" to delete your chat.
Clear chat history in Windows Live Messenger.
Open the program and click the first icon from the right at the top of the box.
This is the "Show Menu" icon. Highlight "File" and click "View Message History."
Select a contact from your list to view messages from or to that contact.
Click "OK."
Click "Delete History" at the top of the "Message History" window.


Erase your conversation history in Skype.
Launch the program and click on "Privacy Settings."
Click the "Clear History" button under the "Keep History For" section.
This will delete all saved conversations.

Clean the message archives in Google Talk.
Click "Settings" on the toolbar and select "Chat" from the list of options.
Click the "Don't Save" option and click "OK."

Delete all message archives with an application.
Programs such as Cyber Scrub, WinClear and ParetoLogic Privacy Controls will delete the history from any instant messaging program, as well as tracking data from your Internet activity. Many of these programs are available for download.

Please download latest version of Yahoo Messenger....... and use following instructions -

Click the Messenger menu in Messenger.

1. Select Preferences.
2. Click the Archive category.
3. Check the Enable Archiving option. Enable each item that you want to archive. If you'd like to automatically delete archives after a certain number of days, place a check in the box next to Automatically Delete Files Older Than and enter a number.
4. Click OK at the bottom of the window.

Please Note: Uncheck the Enable Archiving option if you'd like to disable Archiving.
To view your archive:

1. Click the Contacts menu in Messenger.
2. Select Message Archive.
3. A new window called Message Archive for {your ID} should appear.
4. Select the archive folder you want to review.

To delete your archive:

1. Click the Contacts menu in Messenger.
2. Select Message Archive.
3. A new window called Message Archive for {your ID} should appear.
4. Select the Messages folder and then click the X button if you want to delete your complete Message Archive or select the desired folder and then click X to selectively delete.

A few things to remember:

• Under the Message menu, you can reply, save, and print messages, as well as view your archiving preferences.
• Under the Edit menu, you can copy messages to your clipboard or delete messages.
• Under the View menu, you can enable timestamps.

Please Note: Archives (.dat files located on your system) are encrypted and can only be viewed by the Yahoo! ID that created them. These archives are stored locally on your system, so the conversations held on that specific computer are only accessible from that computer. Once archives are deleted, they're gone, and cannot be retrieved.

Follow these steps :
1.
Enable the ability to have a confirmation message before you delete a Yahoo! text message. Open the "My History" tab, click "Options" and check the box beside "Ask before deleting a message."
2.
Look for the "History" button at the top right side of the web page. Click the button to see every conversation in your Yahoo! chat history.
3.
Highlight the Yahoo! text message you wish to remove. You can view the entire text message below in the "My History" tab.
4.
Click the Delete button and confirm that you want to delete this text message.

You might have a corrupt file in your Yahoo! Messenger directory. To fix the problem, you must manually delete the Messenger directory on your C: drive (default), then reinstall the Yahoo! Messenger application.

To delete the directory:

Close the Yahoo! Messenger application if you currently have it running. Make sure all instances of Internet Explorer are closed.
Go to your desktop and double-click "My Computer."
Click the "C:" drive.
Go to:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!
Highlight the Yahoo! Messenger folder and press the Delete key on your keyboard. (All archives will be deleted if they are not copied. Please see below.)
To install:

Close all running applications except for your Internet browser.
Visit the Yahoo! Messenger home page.
Click the "Download Now" button.
To copy your complete Message Archive:

Close Yahoo! Messenger (if it is currently running).
Go to your Desktop and double-click "My Computer."
Select the "C:" drive.
Go to:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles.
Your "Profiles" folder contains your complete Message Archive. Copy it to the same location on another computer if you wish to view it elsewhere.

This looks to be a problem with Yahoo itself.
