If it's an original key you prob have something blocking the movement of the arm on the inside. Jostle it around or lean it back and try it

SOURCE: I have a gun safe

well the good news is that the door is open and not locked closed --- do not close the door until the problem is for sure fixed. on the inside of the door there should be a access panel that is held on by some screws,, remove the screws and panel. now depending on the make and model of the safe there are a few things that could have happened here. there is a chance that a re-locker has failed and jammed the linkages from moving. ( NOTE : the dial should not turn until the handle is in the locked position ). now if you look at the bolt linkages ( top, bottom, and sides ) make sure that none of the bolts have jammed up against the exit holes of the metal of the door. lubricate all linkages using a silicone or teflon based lubricant. the next thing to check is to make sure that the bolt from the combo pack is not broken and jamming up the handle linkage. there are not many things that can go wrong with the safe -- it is all just a bunch of levers and linkages and it has been my experience ( working as a locksmith for 18 years ) that this problem is a binding issue. again,, I cannot stress it enough to make sure you do not close the door until the issue is fixed and you have tried the combo several times and simulated a open and close ( handle lock and un-lock ) test.
if after all this you are still having issues - it is well worth the service call to have a locksmith stop by and service the safe, this will insure that the safe does not lock you out.

My protector gun safe won't lock

I just took mine apart and thereā€™s a little coil that pulls the locking pin down to allow the mechanism to be turned. The pun is returned by a small spring that in this case is no longer strong enough to do itā€™s job. Thus a gun safe worth about $700 is rendered inoperative by a 25 cent spring.

The drawers on my homak tool chest are locked and the lock is jammed.

There should be an exposed piano hinge on the back of the lid. Use a small nail and hammer (or a rock, if your only hammer is locked in the tool box) to push the piano hinge wire out a little bit, until you can get ahold of it from the other side to pull it out. The lid will then come off, exposing the jammed lock which you can then remove and replace.

Need to remove drawers in Homak tool cabinet

There should be slots in the sides of the drawer slides. Insert a screw driver in the slots and push the tabs in and pull the drawer out that way. To reinstall the drawer just hold the drawer slide and push the drawer past the tabs.

The lock on my stack on safe well not turn

this is caused by a bolt failure. or a disk failure.
to fix you will need to call a safe tech and have them come out to the safe and fix it. this will most likely detail the drilling of a small hole behind the dial and manually drawing back the bolt.
cost will be a service call, labor and parts to repair.
