Problem I am trying to download an upgrade for my streetpilot, but it says to connect the cable to the computer and the gps system, which I have done.It then says to try the website http://www.garmin.com/usbgpsfaq, and I have done that. Now what??

    I'm have the same problem I recived this C330 from a frind as a gifed and didn't recive a disk can you help with a site in order to get the down load that I need?

    I have sent my unit serial number and trying to update my street pilot and do not get the way to update the streets added to be able to find my way.

    I do need help in being able to do this. Thank you for your patience.

Trying to update gps,compute having problem connect garmin
Hello.
Try to connect the GPS on another computer.
If the other computer won't detect the GPS, it means that the cable you're using is defective. So, you have to get another cable.

Hi had a similar problem with a GPS. I had to give it in for service. As it turned out, the power inverter board had to be changed. The cost of the repair was about 1/2 the price of a new one.

My GPS was cutting in and out at times. I finaly died and would not start at all.

Sounds like your battery died and there's no juice to it. When the battery is low, the unit shuts itself off and has a hard time starting up. If possible, try plugging in your unit with a USB cable from the computer and leave the computer on for a few hours and see if that doesn't solve the problem. When in the car, sometimes the cigarette lighter socket comes loose.

Regarding your i3, the USB drivers must be loaded BEFORE you connect your garmin. If you do not have your USB drivers, you can download them from:

Also, why would you need to upload maps? The i3 comes pre-loaded.

Garmin gps
download the usb driver from the website. Then go to your device manager (rightclick "my computer" and click on properties. then click on device manager) Once there, see if there is a yellow exclamation point next to the garmin slot. If there is, right click it and choose update driver. Then follow the prompts to locate the new driver. This shou;d solve the problem.

Go to garmin website www.garmin.com and download the latest USB drivers. After installing the latest USB drivers reboot the computer. Now attach the Garmin to the computer using USB cable. You should see Found new Hardware on your computer.

I had this problem and the solution was to get a PCI USB card for my computer. My computer's motherboard didn't properly use USB and the Garmin GPS could never talk to the computer.

You can get a PCI USB card cheaply at nearly any good computer / electronics store, or even on Ebay. Once installed, just plug the USB cable into the socket on the PCI card and try the GPS again.

I fixed my C530 on my own. Garmin support will not give you this solution.
I attached the GPS to the computer with the usb cable. I used the file explorer in windows to view the file system on the GPS. I sorted the files by date. Then I moved the files that had a newer date than the last time the GPS worked, to an backup folder on my computer in case I need to restore the files to the GPS again. I than disconnected the GPS from the computer and restarted the GPS. The GPS works perfect now and doesn't enter the demo mode any longer.
