You need to give some more information. Jerry there gave a pretty good suggestion based on the information you gave It sounds like your previous monitor had the speakers built in - is this not true?
If your speakers were infact built into your old monitor, then you need standalone speakers since there obviously isnt any built into your new monitor.
If you currently have standalone speakers and (for some reason) were plugging your standalone speakers into your monitor, then you need to reroute this cable to the back of your computer now. Look for the stereo mini plug - it will be colored green.

Probably just some color balance is of. Reset white to something different on the compaq. Try downloading nvidia-settings and see what happens when you mess with color balances. Mess around with some settings til it looks right, or see if you can reset the white balance to a different preset on the monitor's menu

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). you can check first if the power button is stuck, isolate the problem too if the power cord is still OK. try to plug it directly to the wall outlet. if same thing happens sadly you need to replace the monitor or call LG support to check the warranty
