Seems HP still supports it, lucky you !
CQ60 what you left off the full model number making any accurate answer impossible nor what OS is there, XP?
why not get ethernet wired working first. so you can connect to the internet first then get driver for you unstated wifi card.(chip)
be wise to do that first? ok?
the tell this.
1: what CQ60 model. 100, 200, up to 600
sorry cant guess that>? nor the full service tag data.
learn that 1 model can in fact have 4 options for wifi ,sound, and ethernet chips, (covered in the service tag p/n field !!!)
2: what wifi, internal or USB dongle.
is the wifi same as when new, not upgraded?
3: did you change OS from new, from say XP to vista or W7.

lets play a game , pretend you said CQ60-100
and it told you, its here.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/Compaq-Presario-CQ60-100-Notebook-PC-series/3768152

then you said its windows 7-64bit and i said
go here.
then load these drivers. seen here. load all first 7
and skip BIOS

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/compaq-presario-cq60-100-notebook-pc-series/3768152

under network see 3 wireless drivers ,see 3 makers of it.
that means your PC came new with 1 of the 3.
if you dont learn how to see what is in your PC using device manager first, you can only guess.
or try all 3 there, the one that loads and works is IT.
done blind.

again, no service tag presented by you
no OS stated.
and that makes the job 10 times more hard, for everyone.

    wifi is not easy.
    here are the rules.
1: correct driver, loaded matching wifi chip and OS. (and our unstated PC)
    2: find the routers SSID.
3: pick the routers encryption, wep/wpa/wpa2.
4: set the pass phrase of the router. now.
    5: connect.
be in range of router not 100 feet way or
    behind brick or concrete walls.
in a nut shell, my guess is #1 is hard failure.

Had this laptop myself, you need to remove all the drivers for the wifi and delete the files and folders.. download the driver from HP, reboot the laptop and it should install the windows driver. reboot again and then install the HP driver, when you have done this and its working make sure windows cannot update drivers ever again as windows installs wrong drivers. windows 10 is prone to installing the updated drivers that are not compatible with this model. like mouse pad. max version is 18. windows puts 19 on and it makes over driver incompatible.

My compaq cq60 connect to the wireless but won't connect to the internet

Have you tried restarting your broadband modem/router? As although your laptop is connecting to your broadband modem/router perhaps your modem/router is not connecting to the outside world. Once you have restarted your router, if you are still having problems, login to your router and check it's connection status. If it says anything other than "connected"/"ok"/"healthy", something along those lines, I would contact your ISP and check the status of your line. At this stage, if they confirm your line is working I would check the laptop for viruses/malware.

My compaq presario cq60 wont turn on

Does the laptop boot? Sound? Do you see a "ghost Image" in the monitor in a bright light? If so, Could be backlighting, Inverter, on/off switch that shuts the monitor on/off when you open and close the lid. Can you boot to safe mode with networking? If so, Open the Device Manager, Uninstall the Graphics Adapter, reboot, the software will apply a generic driver, If the Graphics adapter has not failed completely.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 and a Netgear WNR2000. They'll connect through an ethernet cable but not using wireless. The router is working fine with other devices.

check the connections for the wireless card and make sure they're both attached, you can see where to look here
http://www.insidemylaptop.com/remove-motherboard-from-compaq-presario-cq50-cq60-cq70-laptop/

if connected make sure not a firewall issue. Try removing all wireless profiles stored in your computer and re-connect to your home wireless network, make sure that you have the correct encryption needed if your wireless is secured.
Or... Click on Start select Control Panel. Select Network and Internet option and then click the Network and Sharing Center. In the tasks on the left click Manage Wireless Networks. Click your network name in the list, then right-click and select Remove Network. This will clear out the profile. Then go back to the Network and Sharing Center and click Connect to a network and reconnect to your network.
might actually be better to start with last one first but I have one too and wireless comes undone easy enough.
hope this helps
If this helps you resolve your problem, please
consider giving me a rating of 4.It will help me
as well. Thank you
