Doing a google search for the brand plus model number for a user guide or YouTube videos might find what you are looking for. That it is a Necchi doesn't supply the model number and of course models differ. On a 537L model, the large knob on the right side about halfway between the top and bottom of the machine adjusts stitch length. The numbers may range from 0 to 5 with 0 meaning no length and 5 being the largest length. Tension, stitch length and stitch width are all controlled by small dials on the front of the Necchi machine. If your stitch length is set to 0, the sewing machine will not feed the fabric. Incorrect tension will cause poor stitch quality. You must consult you machine's user manual to know how to adjust the tension as the procedure differs among machines. Here is a general guide, however:
You really need the instruction manual. You can order one at several places. I ordered mine through the Allyn Co., who is the present day Necchi distributer now in the U.S.A. You can order by calling them at 1-800-525-9987. They cost $10. & a moderate shipping & handling chargr. Their manuals are pretty informative on the machines, at least mine is.I bought two Necchi's used. One is a 537l & the other is a 525FA. It tells you how to clean & oil it & how often to do it & mine shows you how to set machine for the various results, & tells your stretch from the other stiches, etc.
You can find your manual @ the Necchi distributer (it is a copy of your original) @ 1-800-525-9987. Mine cost $14.25- Shipping & Handling, included. Also, they let yu download or get a copy of your manual (or sent on a CD), if it is listed where the Necchi's are listed ( in order of first letter of your brand). I ordered mine from the distributer.
