SOURCE: built in transducer is not picking up/transferring depth to graph

I havew a Minn Kota trolling motor on a Z21 Ranger. Minn Kota has a built in (puck type) transducer on the motor. I have a lowrance 135x on the front. The lowrance will read the temp but will blink the depth. I switched out the depth finder with another 135x with the same results. I have a 522c gps unit networked together and mounted on the console that works fine. Any suggestions on the problem with the 135x?

Question edited for clarity.

Make sure you got the correct transducer Your model comes in single frequency and dual frequency. Make sure the connection on the back of the unit is good and you have no corroded or missing pins. Make sure the software is up to date.

Does the x510c have a speed and temp transducer or just the paddle seperately

Hi Rick

There is only one transducer. for speed/temperature. From page 2 of the owner's manual (see link below)
"A single-frequency with built-in temperature
sensor is packed with the X-510c"

Hope this helps and happy boating!

Temperature readout wrong

Hi, I'm assuming the transducer is in the water when you obtain tthese high readings, if so the transducer is likely faulty. regards Phil

My hummingbird rf15 smartcast fish finder has stopped scanning.it still provides the water temperature but it no longer displays the depth and does not scan the bottom.

The Smartcast system uses the wireless version of a simple transducer and thermometer to locate fish, show structure and water temperature. From your description, it sounds like the transducer portion of the Smartcast device has stopped working.
Transducers are both simple and complex, sturdy and delicate. Here is a Science Minute: A fish finder electrical signal is sent to the transducer. The electrical signal to energize the transducer crystal is generated by an amplifier. The energized crystal reverberates at a particular frequency, to convert the electrical signal into mechanical acoustic or sound energy. The acoustic energy or sound waves causes oscillation of the water molecules through which the sound travels. The sound is pulsed out in a defined beam. These do not travel out in a straight line but in a wave pattern. The acoustic pulse travels through the water at a rate of approximately 4800 ft (1500m) per second in saltwater and 4920 ft/sec in fresh water.

The problem is that the crystal in all transducers (permanent mount, thru-hull mount and castable) is delicate. It is a crystal. Unfortunately the warranty on most of these is six months, and unless yours is newer than that, you may need to buy a replacement castable. The handheld unit should still work. While I think the idea of knowing what is "over there" is a good one for shore fishing, I haven't bought these systems because I could never get over the idea that repetitive casting of a crystal, no matter how well-housed, was a good idea. Good luck.

My fish finder isn't showing depth or temperature anymore. I was fishing one day and my temp started blinking and went away, then my depth began blinking and went away. Soon after this my screen wasn't...

Yes... or it is unplugged... or the wire is broken...

Typically you hear a clicking sound at the transducer when it is powered and running but in your case all function is missing from the display and temp and depth is off of the transducer..

My raymarine ds600x is losing bottom at 120 feet...water temperature is at 220. I have a thru hull transducer...Im wondering if my ducer is fouled up with marine growth or is it a bad ducer or head unit.....

The depth loosing bottom would certainly indicate that you may have growth fouling the transducer, however the sea temp 220 degrees indicates possibly a different problem. Start by being sure the transducer is squeaky clean and see what that does for you.
