Your problem is the fire not the remote. As it is gas, you need to call a gas certified technician. Igniter or thermocouple issue is the most likely causes.

3) Paragon is no longer making this timer or parts for timer. If you purchased timer from ebay, then assume motor is bad or X2772 trippers are worn out. Always buy new timers. Buy Intermatic and parts are easily available.
I have the same problem occasionally with a Paragon 2000R. It seems to be related to the thermocouple. The pilot flame does not heat the thermocouple enough. Usually re-arranging the the artificial coal to reflect some of the heat back to the thermocouple will just make the difference. Maybe it is time for a new thermocouple.
