Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.
Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.
Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.
The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.
1The
internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic
charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read
by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the
protection circuit.
2 The protection circuit detected a wrong
voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in
, starting the flashing light.
If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.
If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.
If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be
inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a
multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to
read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

If you see the back light, then you should have 24vdc on the main power supply board which it gets the turn on command from the maun board. If you do have all those voltage, then it does sound like you need the new main board.

Discharged Flyback Transformer. Removed main pc board from bottom of TV and flipped over, no apparent damaged components or blown board traces were found. Noticed a lot of flux in various areas on the board that seemed unusual (maybe TV was worked on before as I bought a showroom demo at Circuit City). Used a plastic screwdriver to remove all flux between connections on ICs, Transformers, Flyback Transformer, and various other components. Cleaned all debris, dust and crud accumulation (TV is over 10 years old and there was alot around the Flyback Transformer) from both sides of board using a lightweight paint brush.
Used a magnifying glass to check all solder joints for possible cold solders and found none. Did the same for Power Supply Board. Checked various ICs and Power Transistors for opens or shorts (in machine) and they seemed fine. Reinstalled boards, said a few Hail Mary's and fired it up.
The protector Led no longer flashed under power and lo and behold I got picture and sound!
I cleaned the lens on the projectors (again 10 years of dust accumulation) did a magic focus adjustment and it works fine!
After reading other fixes, I fully expected it to die after 10 minutes so I left it on all day and against all odds it still works.
What was the fix......Dirt buildup on and around Flyback and other components,,,,,,Flux conducting electricity between contacts on Flyback and other components.....or oxidation on connectors between Power Supply and Main Board.....I don't know.... all I know is that for the moment I saved around $ 300 - 400 in repair bills by doing it myself.

this issue is related to either the y sustainer and z sustainer boards, checking the fuses on the y/b will giving you a good indication, if they are open(bad) then you'll have a easy fix, if not, i would try replacing the y board first.
