SOURCE: I want to replace the

Hi,

Generic procedure for these are :-

1. Remove the old toilet seat and any mounting hardware connected to it. Throw the old seat away as well as any old hardware. You don't want to mix up the new with the old.
2 Using a soft scrub cleanser that will not scratch the porcelain, clean the toilet surface where the old seat was attached. Don't forget to clean the bottom surface where the old hardware was attached.
3 Lift the hinge covers on the new seat before placing it on the toilet. Align the new seat to the mounting holes and insert the two bolts.
4 Thread a nut onto each bolt, making sure that the new seat is in the proper position before tightening.
5 Using the wrench and screwdriver, tighten the nuts making sure not to over-tighten them. Once the hinge covers are closed, the job is complete.

Kohler toilet seats are held on by plastic screws. If you cant get the nut on the bottom to come off then use a sharp chisel and just chop the head of the screw off.

Oh yea the screw head is located under a cap. Stick a screw driver under it and pry up and it will open.

How i done it on similar model - To replace seat. look right at where the lid hinges there is like two block about 6 to 8" apart. take a small screw driver and pop free the little door covering the screw head. take a big Philips or straight head screw driver. and then look under neath where bolt would stick out below. and you will see a nut,you should be able to hold nut by hand as you tighten the bolt. both nut and bolt are plastic. draw good and snug.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

SOURCE: Where can you purchase a toilet seat for a LowBoy

You can order from the American Standard website:

http://www.americanstandard-us.com/repair-parts/toilet-seats/?so=&r=10&p=1

You can also search for a retailer/distributor near you who will probably carry replacement parts. See here:

SOURCE: dont know how to tighten

There is a plastic cap that you need to flip open. You can do this by prying the flap at the top of the hinge. Once you pop it open you will need a screw driver to turn the screw that is inside/underneath the hinges. Turn the screw clockwise until it is good and snug. then snap the hinge cap back into place by applying pressure to it.

They all work pretty much the same. Feel around the top rim of the bowl near where the tank meets the bowl you should find one bolt underneath on either side of the toilet seat. Tighten the nut under there to tighten the seat.

Self closing all in one tolet seat boxed, hidden screws, how to tighten

If you are trying to install a standard toilet seat on a special "smooth sides" toilet, it likely will not work. Most hidden bolt toilets come with a special seat because you cannot get to anything from below. This special seat has a set of expanding style bolts that are attached to the screw that is part of the seat. The plastic expanding bolt goes into the hole(s) on the toilet, and as you tighten the screw on the toilet seat bolts, they expand the plastic part in the hole of the ceramic toilet.

My brand new toilet american standard round front model cadet 3 tank not fill water

If you verify that the water supply to the toilet is turned on, push down the float on the flush valve. Water should start flowing. If it doesn't, something (such as debris) may be blocking the valve and preventing filling. The new valve could be defective - permanently closed.

PLumber installed American Standard Colony round 10". Tank wiggles back and forth if pushed lightly. Could this break if heavy person leaned back against it too many times?

Yes it is a possibility that the tank could be broken by rough treatment. I would check the tank to bowl bolts to see how tight they are. Be careful doing this as you can break it by overtightening these to.Use a long large blade screwdriver and usually a 9/16 wrench on the nuts on the bottom. Go very easy and I just snug up. Good luck. Thank you.

Water Tank Will Not Stop Running Water

the reason your water keeps running is because the float has not closed of the valve in the stem on the left side. a quick fix is i take the rod that has the float on it and bend it down a little. i also make sure that the plug that fits over the drain seats properly alot of times through age the plug tends to harden up and not seat properly. if you cant get it to seat replace it. if your model has an adjustment screw on the valve body try adjusting that as well.......good luck please rate this
