Clarion 635
I just fixed mine and the problem was one of the cartridge trays that holds cd's had come out and was sitting outside the cartridge and over the top of the assembly that "collects" the disc to play.
If you can easily remove the entire unit from it's mounting brackets, then I have a solution. It might sound tricky, but it's actually pretty easy.
Once you've removed the entire unit, place it on a table to work on. Remove the front plate (this is the part that has the hinged door on it to protect the cartridge and inside mechanisms) by carefully sliding a thin flat screw driver along the plastic edge where it connects to the metal box. There are several tabs that just have a friction fit holding it in place. Be gentle as to not break the top plate.
Once the front plate is removed, you'll find two very small black screws on each side of the metal box/case containing the cd player. (The top half of the case.) Once you've removed the four small screws, you can lift off the top of the metal case and expose the cartride and cd player. At this point, you'll probably see that 1 or 2 of the cartride trays has come out of the cartride and are sitting over the top of the cd player. Gently push the trays back inside the cartridge.
Once the trays are back inside, you can take the entire back over to the power card, plug it in and see if when you hit the eject button if the cartridge pops out. If it does, you're almost done.
Go ahead and slide the top half of the metal box/case onto the unit. Replace the 4 small black screws on the sides. Replace the front plate carefully. Remount the unit in it's original location. Plug it in and you're done.
