I have horizontal white lines across the display of my LCD Tv, I've included more info in the details section below
I have an Insignia model# NS-46L780A12 LCD TV MFG date July, 2011 , recently the display has been acting very strangely because the issue comes and goes consistently dependent to whether or not there's caption writing on the screen - examples being programming information , channel , time etc.....these info blocks are each in their own particular areas on the display , where this gets odd is when your watching live TV ,these info blocks are always filled in with whichever program that's on, the best description of this issue is from these individual blocks of written captions on the screen example - from the top , there will be a continuous vertical row of horizontal lines starting directly underneath said caption all the way to the bottom , this will happen consistently wherever there happens to be writing on the screens display, so you get multiple rows of these horizontal lines from top to bottom of the display and they'll stay there for the entire time you watch your show , some shows have more ,some less ,depending on the writing for that show , this is all on cable TV / live TV I guess you can call it , and when I use my Fire TV stick with certain apps , I'll get no vertical rows horizontal white lines on the display with the exception that I push the mute button or change the level of the volume and the lines start to want to show up and do partially just for a little while ,but almost as soon as the info on the screen disappears as far as mute/ no mute or the volume level , the vertical rows of horizontal lines go away , I should also say that in either case Fire TV stick or cable , these vertical rows of horizontal lines take a little time to develope all the way from where the caption lettering begin and same process for when they go away , it's not instant in either case , it can take up a couple of minutes for either process to happen , one other oddity I guess you could say , in watching a cable tv program where you may get let's say 5 vertical rows of horizontal lines top to bottom at the beginning of the process , if you happen to try to watch that show ,those individual vertical rows of horizontal lines of varying widths will eventually connect with each other horizontally across the display
sounds like you have a vertical sweep problem. Where the fault lies cpuld be the vertical output IC the verticle b+ feed, could be the capacitors in the vertical circuit?? Your gonna need to troubleshoot thr vrtical circuit if your not a tech thin my advise is to take the set to a pro for sn est. Good Luck
Check capicitor in vertical hold circuit. You should have solid knowledge of electronics repair before attemping repair. TV's can emmit harmful radiation, and produce voltages up to or in excess of 30kV.
This television, appears to have had a failure in the mainboard. This
is the board that controls the video functions and sound functions. The
unit should be taken or sent in to a service center for testing and
servicing. The service center will have all the correct service
information to determine the problem for you. You can call Insignia
customer support at this telephone number 1-877-467-4289. You can also
got to the customer support website at www.insignia-products.com. Go to
the support section and ask them for help on how to get service for
your television. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
Hi my name is Eric,
I hope I can help you with your issue ,
If the lines are there on every input then you have a bad panel (screen). The panel is the front screen section, if you could get one a new panel would cost more than a new TV. If the line is only there with the cable box then its just a bad box (I've seen the pace box do this)
If I have helped you with your issue please click accept.
If you have more questions you can still respond
Thanks
Eric

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following
symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can
examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life
of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check and replace all electrolytic capacitors in the vertical output section circuit. There will be 5 or 6 of them to replace. Replace all at one time. The fault you describes here is technically known as 'vertical retrace lines'. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for
more details. Click this link. View it in
'Flip card' option, which can be selected from the drop down box
menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display
window. It will make search easy. There
are more than 990 posts to different brand TVs now. Sometimes, you might get some more details from there.
That white line (usually jagged) is actuallly part of the transmitted picture. However, you are not intended to see it because it is located in what is known as the 5% overscan area. Your TVs today are more than just cable ready... they are a versital, technology filled multimedia display. You can see that line because the screen size or wide mode you are using is intended for 1080p/24 signals. You have 0% overscan with this screen size setting. This allows you to see ALL of the picture, including portions of the picture the broadcaster did not intend for you to see. You can change your screen size using the Wide feature in the Setup menu. See pg.62 of your user manual for details and descriptions of the various wide modes.
Horizontal lines like you describe can be caused by interference from another device. Ensure that you don't have other electronic equipment near the TV. It can also be indicative of trouble with the display itself for which repairs might be required. If needed, service can be obtained by carrying the unit in to the place of purchase.
