IBM e-Server x226 win 2k3. This has 3 Hdd by default with Serveraid-6i.

I've simply added other 3 Hdd into the empty slots available and configured them with IBM SERVERAID MANAGER as a 2nd array to verify if they are status ok and properly working. After that I do not need them anymore and thus removed them from ibm serveraid manager and then phisically. After that the server doesn't boot without the hard disk previously added. How can this be solved?

If you can get into the bios, you should be able to tell your system which drive(s) to boot from.

Testimonial: "In case that's not possible from the bios what about the following way: - Turn on the server regularly; - Once in win2k3 open the Serveraid manager, take the hdds not needed anymore out from the slots and then copy the configuration from drives to the controller ; - restart the server to verify correct boot."

It's the BIOS that chooses what drive to boot off of, your Severaid can not make that choice before the BIOS starts the boot process.

In my IBM X226 server 2 HDD became unavailable in RAID 5 configuration. now I have replaced the hard disks and rebuild process is continuing. 1962 operating system not found error message is being shown...

Raid level 5 gives you some redundancy in your raid however it only allows you to lose one hard drive, two hdd lost would not permit to recover from. the parity bit can rebuild one hard drive but not two, sorry your raid might be lost

Raid configuration

When your system boots up you should see an option to access your raid controller if not or if your system doesn't see the controller at all you will have to download the utility software from IBM, but you need to be careful any change you make in the configuration of the disks will delete all data on your drives. This is non-recoverable loss. The utility has help and is fairly easy to understand.
