technically , yes legally , no. besides this is a false statement. A radio is already tuned when you get it by the factory. now the true part is the it should be tuned to specs otherwise you are possiably interferring with other operators on the amature bands 4 watts is max and 95% mod will give you plenty of swing.

check with another microphone. they have to work for the rx ground pin to make it receive.

i would highly suggest you take it to a cb shop to get a cb tuned and peaked. before you do that though, make sure you have a good antenna system. a good antenna will have a much greater effect on your cb than tuning and peaking. as far as output, who knows? it all depends on the skill of the person doing the tuning. be warned that any output over 4 watts is illegal and you could recieve hefty fines if caught with an illegal radio.

Go to a CB shop and have them put in an "A" board. Then have them tweak & peak. Got mine done for $80.00.
