I've also tried PTP mode (the only other option). That doesn't work either.
Copy files to computer. save in gallory files windows will ask you what to save in PIF or JARAS then it should be readable
Testimonial: "Thanks, but there appear to be no files to copy - just empty folders with names like Podcasts, Movies and Music. I can copy these onto my PC, but they're still empty."
SOURCE: How do I create my own "Albums" on Sansa E250, Windows Media Player
I'd say try going into properties of the file your are trying to transfer into your MP3. Highlight all of the songs you want on the same album. You will then need to right click on them to go into the properties menu. Once you are there go to the Summary Tab, you will need to enter under "Album Title", the same title for all of the music you want to group. This should then in turn create an album with all of your favorite songs on your MP3 player. Good luck!

There is most likely a hidden or read only file located in this dir. Have you tried to view the hidden files?
SOURCE: Canoscan Lide 30 compatibility with Windows 7.
There are no official drivers for CanoScan Lide 30 for Windows XP, so your problem is obvious. I suggest you sending an e-mail at Canon including details about your scanner (date purchased, serial number in text form or scanned) asking them to develop driver set as this model is very trade and at shops since 2006 or 2007.
In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.
