How Can I Fix Yahoo Mail Error 554? - Yahoo Mail

  • Ezequiel Farrell
    Ezequiel Farrell Jan 19, 2022

You'll receive an SMTP error or failed delivery message that includes "554 Message not allowed" when the content of a message you're trying to send violates Yahoo Mail policies. Content that violates policies includes; objectionable links, malicious attachments, or bad header information.

You may occasionally receive a bounceback message with the error code 554 when you send a business email message to certain email providers. The conditions that cause this error are generally temporary, and will clear up over time without further action on your part or ours.

Here are a few things you can try to minimize the impact of this yahoo temporary error:

Try sending your email at a later time.
Ask the person you are trying to reach if they are able to add your address to their contacts list.
Make sure your intended recipient is not filtering or blocking your email address.
Ask the person you are trying to reach to send an email to you, then try responding--some mail systems may block new senders, but allow responses to messages their users send.
Try to contact the person via an alternate email address or from a different email address.
If you continue to experience the message, our team will need some specific information to proceed. In the bounceback message containing the 554 error, you may also see the message Your access to this mail system has been rejected due to the sending MTA's poor reputation. If so, copy the entire contents of the message that was bounced and paste it into a program such as Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac) and save the document.

This information will include the error generated at the system that rejected the message as well as the message's full headers. Once you have gathered this information, please contact Customer Care.

Important: If the sent messages are being rejected by a third-party and not Yahoo, you won't need to contact the Yahoo Postmaster. Only contact the Yahoo Postmaster if the messages are being rejected by another Yahoo Mail account.

If you receive the 554 error message Your access to this mail system has been rejected due to the sending MTA's poor reputation when sending messages from a third-party app, please consult the app's documentation if you do not see the headers in the bounced message.

How did I find this information? I used my favorite search engine, Google, and entered this search phrase, using quotation marks as shown:
"Yahoo mail" "Error 554"

How hard was that?

Best wishes.

SOURCE: my mail to yahoo addresses is sent back undelivered

Welcome to FixYa,

This is a major problem faced by many users, AFA I Know the Reason is that the time on the sending machine was wrong – it was set Some time before in the future. It seems Yahoo won’t accept mail sent from the future, so if you are getting similar rejection messages check your system clock.

I hope this will help you out, IF not then you better Contact yahoo help and report this issue, because there are equal possibilities that there is some malfunctioning on the server side.

If you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating will be esteemed.

554 error messages

Usually, the "reason: 554 mail server permanently rejected message" email is received because the mail server thought your email is spam. If you are trying to send an attachment, that's your problem! Try changing the extension of the attachment by compressing the file in a .Zip archive file.

Cannot connect to subscriber in China

Typically this error indicates that you are trying to send your Adhost email through Adhost’s mail server when you have not authenticated your email account to send mail. Our mail server authenticates you through your pop account. So when you check your email, our mail server authenticates your pop user and password, captures that IP that you are checking your email from, and adds that IP to our relay list. This list is flushed every 70 minutes. This means, if you try to send email after the relay list has been flushed and before you’ve attempted to check your email, you will receive this error.

How to fix the problem:

Fix #1 - reauthenticate on our server.

Remove any email from your Outbox. If you need to keep the message, you can move it to your 'Drafts' folder.
Click "Send/Receive". This will reauthenticate you.
Try resending the email.
Fix #2 - configure your email client to check for email before sending.

In Outlook, go to "Tools" and select "Email Accounts". Make sure "View or change existing e-mail accounts" is checked. Click Next.
Select your account from the list and click "Change".
Select "More Settings".
Select "Outgoing Server".
Check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
Select "Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail".
Click "OK", then "Next", then "Finish".

This will fix your problem
