Nowadays, most of the player support the 1080P video and some even support 4 video playback. However, not all of them give you the perfect quality. It really depends on the ability of decoding. As Nanny say, you can have a try at the Leawo Blu-ray Player. I've tried it, and it really gives a wonderful experience.

You can also downscale the video so that it can be played. Here is the guide. Hope it helps.

VLC Media Player is hugely popular, and for good reason - it's completely free, supports almost all file formats without the need to download additional codecs, can optimize video and audio playback for your chosen device, supports streaming, and can be extended almost infinitely with downloadable plugins.

This program will play all formats of audio and video codecs. It supports Linux, MAC, and Windows OS's. You can configure it to your taste so it will remember all your setting everytime you play your media. The authors are great at getting updates out and dealing with security issues that are reported. The program auto updates on start up so you will always have the latest version.

I have been using VLC media player and some others for some time, but after my last update I noticed all my settings were gone. I have two acoustic dips and a peak in my room and in an old version I set up correct settings after considerable effort, then saved them. Old method of saving these won't work anymore. so I just gave it up as there are many more alternatives with better interfaces, features and use less resources while not forgetting user adjustments. VLC forgets graphical and parametric equalizer settings at each exit among other things. I wouldn't recommend it over the others.

Won't play 1080p discs?

From this problem's description I have to assume that either the blu ray player will not play blu rays or the blu ray player will play blu rays but only in 1080i/720p or that you want to know if this blu ray player supports the 1080p resolution.

If the blu ray player is not playing blu rays then you update the firmware and try multiple purchased discs to make sure nothing is wrong with the ones you have been trying. If blu rays that played once will no longer play, then you will need to reset the blu ray player from its menu and possibly by holding down the power button on the front of the unit until the word reset displays on the unit before trying to play the disc again.

If the television is not showing 1080p make sure you are connected with an hdmi cable and that it is the right version hdmi cable for this blu ray player and for your television. Make sure you have chosen 1080p as the resolution to display in the blu ray player's menu. If all of that has been done and 1080p will still not display then it is a case of incompatibility between manufacturers--Sharp and whatever the television is. It would display in 1080p on a Sharp television and most likely on a Samsung and Sony as well. With other brands and even some models of the aforementioned brands (except for Sharp) its a toss up.

I'm buying a 1080p blue ray disk player. I have this receiver, will it support 1080p? Thanks: Denon avr-4802.

Hi - If you mean can you run/switch a 1080P video source through the receiver, then the answer is no. It can only switch through the video component connectors on the receiver (1080i) but it's not a problem you can just connect your new BR player directly into the TV (HDMI) and have the audio handled by the receiver. It's a common setup and you're not really losing anything. It's the setup I have.
Enjoy your new great BR experience!!

I have hooked up my br to an onkyo home theater through hdmi. i now get an unusable signal on my flat screen. This also happens when I hook it up directly to the tv. What can I do to get this to work

hi,
The Blu-ray player outputs full HD VIDEO (1080p) through HDMI, if your tv is not a full HD one then you can't see the video. Do one thing connect the Blu-ray player to any full HD tv and go to it video setting. Down scale the video to 1080i. All HD ready tvs supports only resolution up to 1080i. only full HD tvs supports 1080p. Down scale the video to 1080i surely you will get video. Also check the version of HDMI cable you have used. It should be 1.2 or above.

How do I get from 480 to 1080p on my tv? I have an HD box on my vizio 42 inch tv but my channels are still showing 480?

1080P is a quality you'll only get with a blue ray quality video. Therefore, you won't get 1080P on cable tv. If your cable provider has HD channels available, you'll be able to get 720 or 1080i quality video (on those channels only). For the best quality, make sure you are using an HDMI cable. Just be sure your cable box supports an HDMI output. Your Vizio definately supports that type of input. If you have a PS3 or alternative blue ray player, you'll be able to watch 1080P.

I am not sure about the Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player: But the Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-Ray Disc Player requires HDMI cable
to give the best resolution (1080p) possible that the TV set is able
to support. Hope this helps.
