Model no. LE46A656A1FXXU screen has a pattern of short horizontal lines on screen that are visible in light and dark picture extremes, the lines are approx 5 inches or 12cm long and look pixelated, there are 8 of them in all in a kind of diagonal grid pattern that stretches from the top of the screen to the bottom. The lines are faint and apart from these lines there is no other picture degradation and the TV is quite watchable. I am stumped as I can't find any similar problem on line. Can anyone help?
The TV may be picking up stray radiation from another piece of equipment, try disconnecting and unplugging all other digi/cable/dvdplayers/phones etc. to isolate the offending article

On the KDFE55A20 this sounds like a bad Q-Box. I would get an estimate from a Sony authorized servicer as this part may be quite expensive. On the 55A10 model this may be the B-Block and is also quite expensive. Getting an on-sit estimate would be the first step I suggest. Again go with an authorized Sony servicer. Call Sony or go to Sony.com for customer service. Good Luck

You have a burn in problem from watching widescreen movies.If you have access to a signal generator or tv setup disc run a perfectly white screen on the plasma for about 30 min.This should help even out the pixels on the display.

Hi, Depeending on the thickness of the lines matters. If the lines are Black and about 1-2 inches thick it may be a bad bottom buffer board or a bad panel (screen).
If the lines are thin 1/16 to 1/8 inch it is most likely a bad panel.
You can open up the set and depending on the model, see the thin board/boards running across the bottom with ribbon cables going to the panel. You may be able to attempt reseating the ribbon cables, but be careful as some retainer plugs break very easy.
If the lines are thick black and the reseating doesn't correct it you may be able to buy the coresponding buffer. Unfortunately some bottom buffers are actually part of the panel. If you are not comfortable taking it apart then call a professional but be aware labor charges start around $200 not counting parts, panels start at $600 up to over $1000

This should be repairable. It may be the LVDS Cable or the Main board problem. The only other problem is the T-Con Board.
