However it will tell you the same thing I'm going to tell you.
Most bench top grinders do not come with a shaft lock. In order to loosen or tighten the retaining nut you need to place a small wooden wedge between the wheel and the metal wheel shroud. This will prevent the shaft from turning. This may seem archaic but it serves a good purpose by preventing the over-tightening of the retaining nut.

Got any old computers kicking around? They have all kinds of switches that will fit. Or radio shack, any 110 volt single switch will work, But you want one to fit the old hole. A regular light switch will work.

It should still be under warranty if it's that new, so why not just return it to Sears? They'll replace it for you, or at least take it in so their service department can fix it. There wouldn't be any charge to you.
