I had white dots multiplying on screen. I replaced the DMD DLP chip, installed a new OE philips tv lamp, and replaced the DMD formatter board only replaced this because one of the terminals broke while removing. Had never had overheating problem before
Recheck all your cables & wiring in the area if DMD chip & board, sounds like something not connected properly.
The lamp must be reset when replaced. Check the owner's manual on how to reset. I had a similar problem and I was instructed to reset my lamp with a few TV remote control functions.
Testimonial: "I have to say this is the 3rd lamp I have replaced in my TV in the 5 years of life. It is used extremely heavily over the years and never before have I had to reset the lamp. I can advise now that after continual investigation I finally got the error code for my TV which is Error 61 Color Wheel issue which actually substantiates an issue I noticed with a Ribbon cable and that cable is actually one of the two cables from the color wheel. I therefore now have a Color wheel on its way."
