The screen on my GPS is rather dull, very hard to read, this has just happened

From the Main Menu press the button underneath the spanner>Demo and deselect the first square if it is ticked>Save.
With your device turned off, press and hold the "OK" button in between the arrows and press the "On" button.
On screen you should see the "Maintenance Menu". Scroll to "GPS menu" using the arrow keys and select it using the "OK" button. Select "Perform a GPS cold start". When this has finished, press the "Home" key twice (the one with the three lines on it). Turn the unit off, then go outside, raise the antenna, and turn it on again. Keep it still for 10-15 minutes and the unit will start to pick up GPS again.

They can be repaired an EBAY is your best option of spare parts for these devices.
Prices can vary and if you feel confident in openin the unit yourself the price would be the cost of the part.
Otherwise you may be looking at sending it to a reputable shop for repair where the cost would be almost as much as buying a new one.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.U WILL FIND THE ANTENNA IS BUGGERED.THERE ARE NO SPARE PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THIS MODEL.LESSON; DON'T BUY NAVMAN OR NORTHSTAR.I HAVE ONE OF EACH. NEVER AGAIN!!!
