Unable to Find Correct Code
If you were unable to find the code for your brand of TV or component, you can try a code search. This process may take up to 30 minutes.
1. Turn on the TV or component. Insert a tape or disk if applicable.
2. Slide the MODE switch to the TV, AV1 or AV2 position, as desired.
3. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys.

8. When the TV or component turns off, stop pressing the CHAN+ key. Then, press and release the SELECT key.
NOTE: If the light flashes 3 times before the TV or component responds, you've cycled through all codes and the code you need is not available. You must use the remote that came with your TV or component.
Verifying the Codes
Once you have set up the DIRECTV Universal Remote Control using the above steps, use the following instructions to find out the 5-digit code to which your component responded:

5. Repeat step 4 four more times for the remaining digits; i.e., press number 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third digit, 4 for the fourth digit and 5 for the final digit.\
Depending on how you set up your remote, the VOL and MUTE may control the volume only on your TV, regardless of the position of the MODE switch. This remote can be set up so that the VOL and MUTE keys work only with the component selected by the MODE switch. To enable this feature, perform the following steps:
1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the green light under the DIRECTV position flashes twice, then release both keys.
2. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light will flash twice after the 3.)
3. Press and release the VOL+ key. (The green light flashes 4 times.)
Now the VOL and MUTE keys will work only for the component selected by the MODE switch position.

SOURCE: remote code
DirecTV offers a remote code lookup tool, which I just used to find possible codes for my Westinghouse TX-42F430S; its first suggestion (the "most popular" code) didn't work. Clicking the "It's not here" button showed seven more codes, and one of them (11577) worked perfectly. Here is the full list of Westinghouse codes for DirecTV from that tool (as of 11/27/08):
Most Popular Code: 10885
Other Possible Codes: 10889 10890 11577 11282 10451 10000 11092

I have the same setup like you. Direct TV and Emerson LCD TV. The Direct TV remote stores a limited amount of codes and none worked on my TV. Sadly it's not something you can update. They seem to only stick with the popular codes. Welcome to the "head of the curve" like me. lol
SOURCE: need tv codes
codes are:
0906, 0702, 0203, 0306, 0208, 0911, 0842, 0942, 0504
one of these should work
To program your universal remote to control your components
using the Direct Code Entry Method, follow the steps below.
1. Manually turn on the component you want the remote to
control.
2. Locate the enclosed Code Lists. Find the list for the
component you wish to program. Find your component's
brand. You will see a listing of four-digit codes for each
brand. If your brand isn't listed, use one of the Code Search
methods to program the remote control. (Refer to pages 3
and 4 for Manual and Auto Code Search methods.)
Note: You can also use the online code finder at
www.rca.com/codefinder to find the best code for your component
3. Press and hold the component key (TV,
VCR•DVD, SAT•CBL) you wish to
program. The illuminated ON•OFF key
turns on and remains on. If you release
the component key at any time during the Direct Code
Entry procedure, the illuminated ON•OFF key blinks four
times, and the process is exited.
4. While holding down the component key, consult the
Code Lists for the four-digit code that corresponds to your
component's brand and use the number keys (0-9) on the
keypad to enter it. While you are pressing the numbers, the
illuminated ON•OFF key turns off.
5. After the fourth number is entered, the illuminated ON•OFF
key turns on. At this time, release the component key. If the
illuminated ON•OFF key turns off, you have entered a valid
code and have followed the correct procedure for Direct
Code Entry.
If you enter a code number that is not in the Code Lists or
you do not follow all of the steps for Direct Code Entry,
the illuminated ON•OFF key blinks four times when the
component key is released. This is an indication that a
programming error has occurred. In that case, repeat the
Direct Code Entry process from step 3.
Tip: Throughout the programming of each key, be sure to keep the
remote pointed at the IR sensor of the component you are currently
programming the remote to control.
6. To confirm that the component key is programmed with
the correct code for maximum functionality, test the
component. Attempt to control a variety of the component's
functions with the remote. If some of the features of your
components do not work, try programming the remote with
a different code in the list until you find the code that allows
the remote to control the majority of your component's
functions. Different codes can provide different levels of
functionality
OK.
