I don't generally like to work on 2cycles. Reed valves are under the carb on the ones I've seen. I watched this whole video of a 250 being disassembled and I didn't see reed valves. It looks like a ported piston design to me aka no reed valve. I'm willing to be wrong.
Here's a complete tear down video -

Here is an exploded diagram and I don't see reed valves on it.

SOURCE: chainsaw running problem

The saw is not getting enough fuel. It should take about 7 pulls to hit(on choke) and then another 2 too start(on run).Check the fuel line and filter first,a fuel line leak is the most likely culprit, very common. Change the air filter, it's cheap and will eliminate any air related problems that may be contributing factors, and it probably needs to be done anyway. If this does'n't fix'ya we will continue on.

Please rate!

I'm assuming the carb is not adjustable, if it is we can solve this in about 30 seconds-

SOURCE: removing flywheel and clutch assembly ms 250 stihl

You need a piston stop, watch part of this to explain use:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdqkIuVNUQc
Make one with starter cord or rope:
I suggest a length of starter cord or nylon rope be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises. HTH

Testimonial: "Thanks for your help, I got the clutch assembly off with the rope as a cylinder stop. But the flywheel is going to require a puller i think."

take the bar off and give it a good clean, get compressed air and blow it into the oil tank, making a seal around it first

SOURCE: clearance for stihl ms 250 ignition coil

Rotate the flywheel until the magnets are under the module, insert a thin business card into the pole gaps, loosen the module screws and allow the module to contact the magnets. Tighten the screws and rotate the flywheel somewhat to release the card. Turn the flywheel one full turn to make sure the pole gaps don't close further. Hope this helps!

Where is the reed valve on the ms 390

Reed valves are either between the intake manifold and cylinder, or between the intake manifold and the crankcase.
Most modern 2 cycle engines are piston ported, because it is simple, inexpensive, and efficient. Reed porting has largely disappeared.

Hello, A stihl MS 361 with apparent seized piston; spark plug is rusty orange as well as 50% top of piston! Water in fuel?

It Could BeTwo Things. One is condensation from sitting for along time. Two is if it was setting outside in thr weather.the water could have seeped through the reed valve. If it is seized up your best bet is too replace it.
