SOURCE: how long does it take to fully charge the battery

The 10A has not been sold for over 15 years. When the batteries are in good shape it took around a hour to charge. If yours is taking longer than that it could be the batteries are bad. I would also look at the contacts on the battery and the drill. These had a tendency to get bent,

SOURCE: diagram of 36 volt hookup for trolling motor

To get 36 volts, number batteries 1 thru 3. connect pos 2 to neg 1, connect pos 3 to neg 2, connect pos 1 to trolling motor controller and neg 3 to ground on trolling motor.
This is only a solution for 3 battery system.
For 4 battery system, connect 4 to 3 pos to pos and neg to neg.

I have a 2003 honda shadow 1100c and I'm getting the right amps at the battery and the motor side and it has stoped changing but not all the time what can I do ?? What is causing the problem??

Greetings Ronnie, Keep in mind that the battery does not need charging all the time. The voltage regulator senses when the battery needs charging. If the battery were to be charged all the time it may short out and explode. For accurate testing of the battery and charging system, please see Gregg's post above. Herb

Does a miller 225 charge off of the flywheel or does it have and alternator?

Flywheel. Check for AC voltage on the two outside wires of the voltage regulator with it running. At fast speed, should be 30-40 volts ac. It that is there, then check dc voltage on battery, which should be close to 14 volts dc.

2000 MONTE CARLO BLINKERS DO NT WORK,AC/AND HEAT DO NT WORK,AND RADIO IS SAYING LOCKED UP

Does the vehicle start?
If not, then check battery voltage. If below 12.5 volts, then recharge the battery and retest system charging voltage (should be around 14 volts)
If battery is fine and vehicle starts, then check fuse box and wiring loom connectors.

I have a countax K18 ride on mower. When I try to start it it just clicks (the starter motor clicks). Once I put the charger on the battery it starts no problem. I have tested the battery with the mower...

there is a coil under the flywheel that is supposed to charge the battery...if you look at the engine there should be a wire coming from under the flywheel that is supposed to go to either a diode or a regulator and then to the battery...you can put a meter on this lead and one on the engine ground to see if it is putting out voltage...you may need to put the meter on AC VOLTS as the voltage may be AC...if there is a regulator(it looks like a heatsink module, square with fins on it..).this may be defective. The ac coming out of the stator(this is the tech term for the alternator) is present..(it will vary with eng speed)..then the regulator is probably bad

Your mower is not charging the battery. Something is wrong with the charging system. It more than likely uses a magneto type charging system. It is mounted under the flywheel. Unless you are adept at repairing these take it to a pro.

Recently having problems with my 2000 Fatty not holding charge. What should stator be putting out on voltage meter? Voltage meter climbs as rpms go up, I would presume that this indicates stator ok? Bike...

First, take your battery somewhere and have it load tested. Fat Boys are tough on batteries as the battery sits in the "horseshoe" oil tank and is subjected to high temperatures due to the hot oil in the tank. Battery life is typically two years although I've seen some go longer and some not last that long. Have the battery tested before you start spending money.

To check the stator, you unplug the regulator at the engine case. Down inside the plug you'll see some electrical connectors. Connect a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) to these connectors (one lead to eac pin) and put the meter in the 50 volt or higher range AC voltage. This is important that your meter be set to measure AC voltage because at this point, the voltage is indeed an Alternating Current voltage coming out of your alternator. Start the engine and bring it to a high idle. You should be reading over 20 volts AC. The book says that you should read 12-18 volts per 1000 engine RPM. If your engine is turning 2000 rpm, your meter should read 24-36 volts AC.

To test the regulator, first charge your battery to a full charge. Then connect your DVOM across the battery, red to positive, black to negative. Put the meter in the 20 volt DC range. Start the bike and bring it to a high idle. The voltage will start at somewhere around 12.5 volts and climb to about 14.5-15 volts. This would indicate that the regulator MAY be alright.

Now, have you changed any of the lights on your Fat Boy? I've seen people change and add lights to the point where their alternator could no longer put out the current necessary to handle the load. If this is the case, you may need a higher out charging system.

I don't know where you're located but $260 seems quite high for a voltage regulator.
