2004 xg350 replaced battery no lights or cranking not even dash or dome

Bad Battery/Bad battery connections. Test is to have dome light on when attempting to crank. If dome lights go very dim or out it is most likely the battery or battery connections.

If multi meter is available have voltage checked on battery while attempting to crank. If voltage goes below 9 vdc on a charged battery than battery can be assumed to be the problem have the battery checked. The voltage should be 11.8 or greater when not cranking.

If the voltage is above 9 Vdc like 10 or above and the car doesn't crank likely a starter motor of other mechanical engine problems..
If battery is above 11 while trying to crank than I would look for a bad electrical connection between the battery and starter.

Hi Michelle, if this is a fully charged new battery fitted then the problem is the connection from the battery, check the earth strap is making a good contact on the chassis and the terminals are connected correctly and making a good contact with the battery posts!

You have a dirty or loose connection either between the battery's negative post and engine ground (most likely) or between the battery's positive post and the starter solenoid. You can determine which by setting your meter to "DCV" or "DC Volts" and putting one probe on the battery's negative post (the lead POST, not the clamp) and the other probe on the alternator's body. Try to crank the engine that way - your meter SHOULD insist on reading 0.0V, but if you have a poor ground connection it may read as high as 12V.

Likewise, read volts between the battery's positive POST and the positive connection to the starter solenoid while someone tries to crank the engine. Again, it should read 0.0 but if you have a poor connection it'll read significant voltage.

The body control module seems to be the culprit here. Have it tested or replaced.

Ok, even if the battery is new, get a voltmeter and measure the battery, if its below 12v, thats the problem. That way you completely eliminate all these factors without a doubt. Also check negative wire from battery to the ground box and connections. It sounds more like a corroded terminal.

This is when you need a tech to dial into the problem! 8 yrs is when you need to make a decision!

bad ground at battery or chase.

Did you try to boost battery? Sounds like low charge. Check battery terminals for tight and clean as well as groung connection at body and power connection at starter for clean. If battery OK test for power on starter wires. Large wire will have contant battery power small wire will have battery power when key is in crank position. If power ok on both it will probably need a starter. Hope this helps...Good Luck.

Check your dimmer switch for the dash guages. If it is all the way up the dome light will not turn off.
