it will be a pre-load spec and as it depends on whether a collapsible space is used or not between the bearings
try for a download from the net for a workshop manual or ask a diff rebuild shop if they have the specs
the lower mounting bracket has a long bolt as you have found , the alternator sits between the inner edges of this bracket, which have anti crush collets fitted in the bracket holes , one of these may have slid out when you removed the bolt , try to see if there is a cylindrical sleeve stopping the alternator moving completely out ,if so push this back into the bracket , hope this helps
MERCEDES C200 Kompressor 2001. battery alternator visit workshop is flashing on trip computer. i have replaced alternator. everything is ok. battery getting charge... i cant see any thing wrong so why workshop flashing?? maybe something wrong with new alternator 4 exampel voltage sensor??
