Using DMC ZS100 Lumix. Can the white balance be adjusted while in the "P" mode? Seems like its only available in the "C" mode.

  • David P Jan 06, 2019

Yes, the white balance can be adjusted while in the "P" mode (Program mode). The easiest way to do this is to use the Quick Menu button (QMENU button on the bottom with the trash can icon on it). Once pressed, you can navigate to the White Balance setting and adjust it to whatever you want. Incidentally, I was not happy just using the Panasonic user manual. I found a book called "Photographers Guide to the Panasonic ZS100" by Alexander White to be very helpful in learning how to use this camera's many features.

There are exceptions to this. For example, adjusting the White Balance is not available in the 4K Photo mode. See page 197 of the Advanced User Manual: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camera/om/dmc-zs60_adv_en_om.pdf .

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: burst mode on Panasonic Lumix dmc-fx50

I have, after sifting through the 144-page manual, figured out what the problem is! At some point you must have set the "Auto-Bracket" setting to on - I did the same thing! To turn this off, put it in any of the Scene or Manual Exposure modes, then press the up (↑) key until "Auto-Bracket" comes up. Then, using the left or right (←,→) keys, set it to Zero (0). This should hopefully solve your problem! :)

SOURCE: Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ30 - LCD white screen.

Firstly, use the following information at your own risk, I am simply providing my own findings for informational purposes. It may or may not be the solution to your problem. If you want a professional opinion, go to a camera repair specialist...

I have had the exact same problem. The screen on my Panasonic DMC-FZ30 started to go white with lines through it in certain positions, and then in all positions. Finally it went black.

I took my camera apart to try and find the source of the issue with my screen (by the way if you want to take your dmc-fz30 apart, there is a fantastic service manual download for free at: http://www.nemodus.info/fz30/docs/DMC-FZ30_DSC0508016CE_v1.pdf or if that does not work try http://elektrotanya.com/panasonic_dmc-fz30.pdf/download.html ).

I believe the issue stems from the contacts of the rotating screen. I would hazard a guess that somewhere along the flexi-cable there is some wear which has caused this to occur...
I have not yet solved the problem, however I do have two potential solutions.

1. I found a site where you can buy a replacement flexi-cable for the camera. The site is (http://g-plushk.com/product_info.php?cPath=53_56&products_id=653). The cable costs approx $12 (not sure which currency, it doesn't say).
The issue with this solution, after taking apart my camera, I could find no way to remove the cable completely from the swivel joint at the base of the screen. So you would probably have to buy the part and take it to a professional. (probably check first whether it is even possible to replace, I assume it is, as they sell the part...just my guess).

2. The second solution (easier in my opinion, but a bit more expensive I'm guessing). You can buy a replacement screen for the camera. Contact Panasonic for your closest spare parts distributor. I do not know the price for a replacement screen, but I would estimate that it is between $30 to $50 AUD. I would then install the part myself as it is fairly easy if you follow the service manual. However if you would prefer not to do it yourself, I would seek the help of a camera specialist to replace it...

By the way, just to put a repair in perspective. You can PROBABLY (not definitely) buy a second hand 'Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30' for somewhere between $80 to $120 AUD...

Hope that helps

What can I do to access certain items in my Record menu of my Panasonic Lumix DMC F300?

Some of these functions are not available when other options are set on the camera. HDR and handheld night mode aren't available if you are saving the images with the Quality set to RAW or either RAW + JPEG option. It doesn't work with still pictures when in movie mode. HDR is also not compatible with the Time Lapse Shot or Auto Shoot in Stop-Motion Mode. I'm not sure if there are similar limits with the Panoramic shot mode.

See the advanced manuals available on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ300 product page, http://shop.panasonic.com/cameras-and-camcorders/cameras/lumix-point-and-shoot-cameras/DMC-FZ300K.html , for these restrictions. The direct link to the manual is currently ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camera/om/dmc-fz300_en_adv_om.pdf . Page 78 covers the Handheld Night Shot and page 126 covers the HDR mode. Look in the box with the blue background for these limits.

I hope this helps.

What is white balance

White balance is the camera looking at the whitest white and the blackest black and aligns all the other colors between the two digitally. when you adjust the white balance you create end points for how light the lightest or darkest point in your photo can be collected on your camera.

DMC TZ5 Ind0or Red colour

Hi,

What you're describing is a classic indication of an improper "White Balance" setting. Please look at the manual, page 98 in particular - as it discussed White Balance settings. The manual will open automatically if you have Adobe Reader installed - otherwise, follow the linked title above to download & install it (a free program). In most situations, using the AWB (automatic white balance) setting on the camera will provide very good results. If set to some other value however, the colors may develop a blue / green or red /orange tint to them.

You can quickly locate all the places in the manual that mentions white balance by clicking on the binoculars icon and typing "white balance" (no quotes) and clicking search.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Panasonic DMC-TZ3 Purchased in 2007, the camera has worked fine until now. It has not been dropped or anything. Suddenly now there is a very bad purple distortion both on the LCD and the pictures I...

Most likely this is either an issue with a custom white balance, color tone, or the image sensor is starting to go.

Set the white balance to AWB (menu -> W.Balance).

Try to adjust the color (usually has options like sepia, cyan, black and white normal, etc).

If these fail a lot of cameras have a reset to factory settings.

If none of these suggestions work, its probably the image sensor.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks!

Blue photos from a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 digital camera

Hello,
It might be an idea to check whether your "white balance" is not set to "fluorescent light" or "custom white balance". "Auto" is the safest option here. Incorrect white balance would cause blue/yellow cast on the picture. Otherwise the problem might be more severe (i.e. sensor failure-not common in TZ3 though).
If you're still getting blue cast with white balance set to auto, you can try to set "custom white balance" with white sheet of paper (refer to the manual for details) - this will override auto white balance.
Good luck!
