I have an E6 model had the drip tray empty error NOT clearing after cleaning the metal tabs on the drip tray. I believe to found the fault as the tray is often pulled in and out many times a week and causes the connector to become out of alignment and lift up out of position. My fix was find a torch and flat head screw driver and place the machine empty on it back. find the inner connector and push down firmly with your flat head screw driver and you will hear it click into a position, do this on booth connectors and see if it works. please give me a tip if you have been successful , ethereum 0x04160574e307281809016c0c75c26340d5ae3d59

SOURCE: Saeco Espresso machine - Empty drip tray (all the time)

aye that is true if you click the coffe making button directly after you have had it out you will be able to make a cup, as the machine has a 2 second response time.

Ok here is what i think:
As it registers the driptray I dont think its the sensor to it.
More i would think that its the CPU card that is not responding to that its clean.

I am sry but I have to ask this:
When it says emptie the driptray are you actually taking out the container that is located under the brewing unit, and not the "drip tray" were you put the coffe mugs?

Also when i think i have a sensor problem I allways take out everything. Brewing unit, dripwater container, dregbox, and the watercontainer. and have it out for atleast 2 minutes ( clean it under the mean time) and put it back again.

As I dont have the machine infront of me i cant be certain:)

Try using CLR (calcium, line, rust [remover]) or an equivalent product, that is soaked into a Q-tip to clean the sensor. You may need to repeat the process a few times, using a Q-tip with water between to take off layers. Another tip that you may want to do is using a cleaning solution in water to run through the system once or twice followed by brewing with WATER ONLY to rinse it. Hopefully that will solve the issue and leave your unit healthy for a lot more time.

My jura j9 continues to show the error of "empty drip tray" I have cleaned the metal connectors in the back and cleaned and dried the back of the Machine. Please help

If the machine says TRAY MISSING it's the contacts at the back so clean as other people have stated, you can also use a cardboard nail file to clean the contacts at the back if there really dirty!.

If the machine keeps saying EMPTY GROUNDS even though you have, pull out the tray, look just inside the aparture where the tray goes top right at the front there is a small slot where if you look closely you can see a small white micro switch. This will be probably gunged up with coffee and the switch will be stuck up, get a can of WD40 and squirt a small amount up into the switch then poke the switch with a small screwdriver up and down until it moves smoothly.

Then replace all the bits, sit down, look smug and have a coffee cos you've fixed it!!

I was descaling my exprelia coffee machine.i was asked to empty the coffee grounds unit and the drip tray. I did that and the message keeps appearing. I even turned the machine on and off. Help.

  1. Thoroughly clean the small overflow area in the drip tray. Once the drip tray gets full water flows over a small rim into this small separate part thus triggering the sensor that tells that the drip tray should be emptied. Its waals may get a bit fatty/dirty, and so remains wet and keeps triggering the sensor.

this is a diagram of the drip tray & drip tray contacts for the Jura S-Series S Series Impressa S7, S7 Avantgarde, S8, S9, S9 Avantgarde, S90, S95, C3000 capresso 153, X70, X90, and XS90 One Touch Models.

"EMPTY TRAY" or "EMPTY GROUNDS" (on other machines) is activated when the 2 metal contacts can complete an low volt electrical circuit through high waste water or wet caked-on coffee grounds. the area is marked in RED. careful examine this area and observe the obstruction and gunk and compare with bare clean black abs plastic. the gunk is dull and rough. use soft tools (toothpick, bamboo skewer) to scratch through the gunk. use warm water and soap and a low bristle height brush to thoroughly remove all buildup from this area. dry the metal contact and contacts area with a high percentage alcohol. visualize the insertion slots deep inside the machine (for the metal contacts marked 414) with a flashlight and verify that the female contact point pads have not been bent and are separate and distinct.

the GREEN arrow indicates a thin black plastic finger-like protrusion. this finger (when the tray is inserted) will press against the "TRAY MISSING" small white relay switch deep inside the machine. use a flashlight to visualize the small switch. verify that the switch is securely mounted and clicks when depressed (up) using a soft tool (bamboo skewer) and note the sound. verify the finger is not damaged or chipped off. listen for the sound very carefully when the tray is fully inserted into the machine. if it is not these preliminary factors, the relay switch should be replaced.

You should Clean and dry the metal contacts on the back of the drip tray, ensuring that the gap between the contacts is clean and dry (if present, contacts not on all JURA models) Make sure that the plastic in between the contacts is clean

I have a Jura Impressa 27. The tray, for some odd reason, was not going back in. I simply tried it without the top part - that receives the grounds - and was finally able to get it in. I pulled it back out and found some grounds that had been dumped. It seems something was stuck that wouldn't allow it back in with the top part. Then after I was able to put both pieces back in without a problem.
