Key pad won't work after anew battery

Electronic locks on gun safes are great when they work well. They provide us quicker access to the interior of the safe than a tumbler lock and dial set. However when you change the batteries on one of these safes you have to follow the manufacturers instructions. This is not something we are accustomed to doing for a simple battery change right? There are some safes that when you change the batteries in the combo lock...if you unplug the wire cable in the process and then don't plug that wire in until AFTER you put your fresh batteries into the unit...that you will reset that safe combo to factory default. Try the factory default for your brand of safe lock. Your owners manual (which should NOT be kept in your safe ever) will tell you what that preset number is. A lot of manufacturers use 123456 as their default number. Some use six 1s. Check the manual and try the default code.

My passcode is not opening my remington express gunsafe. I have tried holding the poles of a 9 volt battery to the metal area under the keypad but it does not work. What can I do at this point?

Gunsafes are meant to be difficult to open. I'm unsure as to your logic in the novel use of that 9v battery, all it would have done was to short circuit the battery.

Remington's own website gives you only one option if you're a US resident, "Contact Liberty Safes, the licensee, at 800-247-5625 for assistance with obtaining the combination to your safe.

If your safe is a low cost model and you need access quickly then you'll have to cut the safe open, but more expensive models are resistant to this form of attack and the safe will need to be scrapped and replaced afterwards.

Cannot enter into the safe- low battery

If you have lost the instructions that came with the safe, you may have to call a lock smith.
