Whirlpool dryer WED5530SQ0, heats but does not run

Whirlpool WED5530SQ0, dryer heats when knob turned but when push start pressed drum does not run. I checked vent and belt looks fine. Any suggestions. Gladly appreciated.

I have same problem with same model and yes drum does not spin. Heat comes out still if u turn the left dial to a setting. I have a belt in center of drum (has grooves on under side) that is intact. I was thinking the push button switch to actuate the drum to turn (power) may be broken. Thanks and how many belts should u see?

So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!

I have the same problem with the same model. When I turn on the dryer, it is heating up, but the drum will not turn. The belt is in tact, so I don't know what else could be wrong. The heater coil is hot as Hades, though. Please offer any suggestions you may have.

On my Whirlpool model WED5300SQ0 The solution to my units heating but not running was at the nonresettable thermal fuse. I disconnected the two wires to it and wired them together and pushed the start button and dyer ran. Replaced thermal fuse and unit works fine. The function of this fuse is to protect motor from damage.

I have a Whirlpool Gold senseon Model number GeX9868Jq1 I can feel the heat inside to Dromm but when I push start it just clicks It's a electric dryer

Unfortunately, it sounds like the motor, since you aren't hearing it run. Motor turns the drum by way of a belt.If motor is running, but drum not turning, it would be the belt... I would also say door switch, but then the heating element wouldnt be heating up. Slight chance it could be the control, but I doubt it. DW

Troubleshooting whirlpool electric dryer WED5530SQ0

The only thing that is left is the timer. Use a multimeter and wiring diagram prior to replacing it. It is something that doesn't go out often.
Good luck.

My dryer-gas whirlpool the drum dors not tumble, the heat goes on

try and have the door open hold the door switch and have soem one push or turn the knob on at the same time spin the dryer drum clockwise by hand if it starts. you may need to clean the inside o fhte machine and the motor from any lint build up.or if the drum turns freely and easy you may have a broken belt or it might have slipt of the motor pulley.

If you have airflow through the machine, then the motor is running. You have probably lost the drum drive belt. To replace it, you must remove the top and front panels, plus remove a rear access panel on the lower back to reload the belt on the motor and idler. Hope this helps!

There is a in line thermal fuse that is in the machine near the heating element that has probably burned out from overheating replace the thermal fuse and check your vent pipe for clogs and or kinks that cause the machine to overheat.
