The fireplace won't turn on when it gets below the set point on the remote. The flame icon is on and I think it's keeping the fireplace from coming on.

That's because you have reached your desired room temperature as set on the remote. Raise the set point to a higher value.

SOURCE: my heat n glow fireplace comes on fine with all

You may have a few sensors, one may be a thermopile that energizes the pilot. It is a very thin but long bulb located in the pilot flame. Then you may have something called a thermopile which is also located in the pilot flame that energizes the main gas valve. It is a larger diameter bulb and will have metal wrapped wireg going to the gas valve. If the pilot stays on but the flame goes out under the logs, change your thermopile and look for a bad connection at the gas valve or switch. If both the main burner and the pilot goes out you may have a gas valve problem or a plugged vent pipe. If the flame just disappears it is most likely a gas valve. If the flame changes colors and lifts from the burner, that is a sign of a plugged vent. Good luck.

I have the same problem. I removed the top cover and the circuit board was black around the fuse clips. I looked further and the fuse clip had heated up so much that it had separated from the board. I will contact the manufacturer tommorrow and see what they wii do for me

Flame stays on after turning off fireplace

If the flame effect in your fireplace continues to stay on after turning it off, it could be due to a malfunctioning control board or a faulty switch. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the remote control: If you have a remote control for your fireplace, make sure that it is turned off and that the batteries are working properly. Sometimes a faulty remote control can cause the flame effect to remain on even when the fireplace is turned off.
  2. Check the switch: If your fireplace has a manual switch, check to see if it is in the off position. If it is not, try turning it off and see if the flame effect turns off.
  3. Check the control board: If the remote control and switch appear to be working correctly, the issue may be with the control board. In this case, it is best to contact a professional for repair or replacement.
  4. Unplug the fireplace: If all else fails, try unplugging the fireplace for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. This may reset the controls and resolve the issue.
It's important to note that if your fireplace is gas-powered and the pilot light is still on after turning off the fireplace, you should contact a professional to inspect the unit as this could indicate a gas leak or other safety concern.

My Valor fireplace won't turn off with the remote

Easy turn the gas cylinder close then its off,Or you could have a faulty control valve or thermo couple .Thermo couple is the small device looks like a probe to detect heat this is normally directly in the small pilot flame. The pilot flame if not burning will not open the control valve for the other burners to come on.If the other burners come on but do not go of when turned off. then need to check control valve.

Remote won't work unless next to fireplace.

There are some adjustments that can be made to improve the reception of the Skytech 3301 Fireplace Remote.
Sometimes the RF reception can be diminished if the receiver is in an enclosed metal surround such as a heat shield.
The link above will bring you to the product page where you can scroll down and download the full owner's manual. An excerpt from the manual in regards to adjusting the reception is below:

"RECEIVER ADJUSTMENT - RECOMMENDED ADJUSTMENT
NOTE: The slide button, Gray or Black, covers the ADJ access hole when installed.
A. To adjust at the receiver, use a small slotted screwdriver. Turn the adjustment screw counter-clockwise
about 5 degrees or a maximum of 1/8 turn. This should correct the distance problem.
B. If that does not correct the problem, return adjustment screw to original position and then turn adjustment
screw clockwise.
This adjustment is like tuning your radio. If you keep turning the adjustment screw, in either direction, you will go past the proper setting (tuning)."
