Loud noises at night

We recently had a Watts gas hot water heater installed. We now have a loud repetitive noise coming from the kitchen drain at exactly 1:06 AM lasting about 20 seconds. We do not have a hot water circulation pump installed.

SOURCE: Rheem small 6 gallon water heater vibration/noise

If the water heater is working fine than I would not worry about the function of the water heater. What the problem may be is that some of your WATER LINES HAVE MOVED, AS THEY WERE NOT SECURED PROPERLY. The sound you may have heard was the Copper or PVC(Plastic) lines just getting back comfortable. I Suggest checking that your water lines are secured about every 3 or 4 feet with the proper ancjhor....Metal for metal pipe, copper for copper pipe, etc. Sometime as in my house, pipes are run through a hole drilled through a stud or a piece of wood, usually when hot water is run through this pipe. You can here an expansion of the water line interacting with the pipe expanding, if the hole in the wood was not drilled big enough......Experience of remodeling a very old house.......Joe

SOURCE: Tankless water heater pilot light will not stay on

It is most likely the water valve stuck open, telling the controls to heat water, that it thinks is flowing through it, but without actual flow it overheats. Depending on how comfortable you are with taking it apart yourself, you could open the valve to see if it just needs cleaned out, or if you have a ruptured diaphragm or some other cause.

SOURCE: noisy water heater blower

It may just need a new pump coupling. Fairly inexpensive. I don't think you need to replace the whole burner.

SOURCE: richman gas lp tankless hot water heater. used for

I had the same problem with my Paloma a year and a half after installation...contacted Rheem\Paloma\Richman customer service (800-432-8373) and they recommened a local installer in my area. The technican diagnosed the problem as the "flow control valve"; he managed to get Rheem/Paloma to cover the part under warranty...I only had to shell out the money for the install.

Takagi TK-540P just installed and vibrating loudly

When the noise occurs when there is no hot water being used, it's likely there is a vacuum that's siphoning water away from the unit and causing loud noise and vibration. ... Another common problem that can create noise in tankless water heaters is a dirty flow sensor which controls how much gas is sent to the unit.

I have a Rinnai model R53-i-1. When hot is called for, heater turns on and produces a low to loud vibrating noise. It seems to change with water flow use at tap. I called Rinnai, got the name of local guy,...

A low to loud vibrating noise is an indication of an Air /Fuel imbalance . When you flow more water , does the noise become louder ? if so , have a service technician check for pproper incoming gas supply . The requirements are located on the left hand side of the Rinnai unit . There will be a minimum/maximum specification.
Another issue could be the burners being "dirty" and needing to be cleaned .
Also investigate the venting and make sure all joints are sealed properly and the venting is sloped correctly . If you have your installation manual , please refer to the venting section in regards to usage of a condensate collector . This can be a cause of noise .
There is a clear vinyl hose running from the bottom of the heat exchanger to the front of the gas valve . Please inspect this hose for any moisture or signs of staining . This can lead to issues with the gas valve . It must be determined where the moisture is coming from (See previous comment about Condensate collector !) .
The cold water solenoid valve usually has nothing to do with this type of noise .
As far as yourself being able to repair the unit ? I have no idea of your experience but a qualified licensed service technician should be used as this is a gas fired appliance and as such is subject to huge liabilities when being repaired .
Have them call Rinnai Tech Support while on site for any assistance needed.
You shouldn't have to "put upo " with any noise issues . The Rinnai ujnits run at 49 decibals (about the same level as a conversation .
Good Luck !

Noisy water heater blower

There really is no way to do this. If you put a cap you will restrict the air flow which will cause you to have problems with the water heater, same thing if you where to put screen on it. You can try enlarging the pipe to a 3 inch and see if that works. But 15 years in the trade nothing has been made to reduce the noise
