Can a pressure cooker's 'ceramic insert' be frozen / thawed?
Hi.
I recently bought a Russel Hobbs 6L Electric pressure cooker model no. RHEP6, and still learning the operation, via the manual.
Simple timer based cooking of stews etc is simple.
However the manual does not mention whether the greyish inner pot insert? can be frozen in a deep-freeze at about -6 deg.
Sometimes, when a full pot of about 5L to 5.5L is stewed, the contents are not finished in one go, so freezing the pot then thawing in the cooker when ready would be ideal.
Would freezing crack the pot, heating solid ice burn anything?
Thanks,
Clive.

When a pressure cooker is working normally, some steam and a little water is supposed to come out of the valve, that's how you know it's up to pressure.
Russel Hobbs makes both a slow cooker and a pressure cooker - confusingly in Europe they call Slow Cookers pressure cookers. The only way to really tel is if there is a special lid with valves and locks (pressure cooker) not a glass or plain lid (slow cooker).
two things, the thermostat allows the cooker to get too hot or the thermal fuse rated temperature is too low. Try get a thermal fuse with about a 10 deg higher rating.
If you still require help with this I have the same model. My manual has P/N 221396. Their email is [email protected] or phone # 800-233-9054. Hope this helps.
