I have this problem too. Called the repair man out to the house & he just told me it was set at the factory & there was nothing he could do. I discovered if I held the water level knob between the settings given, water would run to the level I wanted as long as I held it in place, but I don't know if this does any damage to the machine. So I don't know if you want to try that or if it can even be done on your model???

What is the model number of your unit?

Check your drive mechanism further, something caused it to come unscrewed. I would go deeper and see if I could find anything that could be out of balance or worn, that would have caused the screws to come out.
