They only last 7 years, after which they beep every 30 secs. You need new ones.

SOURCE: MODEL KN-COP-DP MFG 2003 GETTING ERR AND BEEPING

If the display shows "Lb", the battery is probably low; replace it. Make sure you are buying brand-name batteries, EverReady, DuraCell, etc. not some cheap knock-off brand you may never have heard of. There is absolutely no quality control or minimum performance specifications for batteries that are marketed in the US and there is some REAL trash out there. If the display shows "Err", push and hold the Peak Level button. Does the display change to "E09"? If so, then you have just been "had" by the grossly under-documented "planned obsolescence feature" called, rather matter-of-factly, "End of Life". This means that ~7 years after first being powered up, the unit will, BY DESIGN, cease to function, forcing you to buy a replacement. Would have been nice of Kidde to include THAT warning on the OUTSIDE of the package. Call their "Hotline" at 1-800-880-6788 and tell them what you think of that policy. If it is still under warranty (5 or 7 years depending on date of manufacture) they should replace it. In any event, buy another one; if they replace your first one you will have twice the protection. Not a bad thing. *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. Words to live by: "Every creative act results from a sudden cessation of stupidity." -Edwin H. SOURCE: I have a KIDDE /

Normally, that means the battery(s) need changing.. But, hundreds people have had problems with this combo detector, it's hard to predict what it is.

But, as I said earlier, "Normally that means the battery(s) need changing." The keyword here is "Normally".

Good luck. I hope that solves your problem.

My Kidde Model # KN-COEG-3 keeps going off and lists 217 now 205 now again 217 and this is with the door open and fresh air coming into my place ??

I took the following from the Kidde website. They only answer the phone Mon-Fri, from 8-5, EST. I checked it out because my almost new Kidde CO detector is showing an Error code.
The next time your carbon monoxide alarm has ERR on the display, push and hold the Peak Level button. You will see an E and an O followed by a number.Contact our hotline at 1-800-880-6788 and provide us the error code, along with the model number, assembly number and date of manufacture from the back of your unit.If your unit is under warranty, a replacement will be mailed to you.

My CO detector is chirping every 30 seconds or so, there is no battery to change and receiving error code 09

depending on what model number you have .. if its a model kn-cosm-b then is actually has 3 AA batteries inside ... the model kn-cob-lcb-a, while it runs on 120 volts, still has a 9 volt battery inside .. in fact most models have a battery backup so that they still work if there is a power outage .. the chirp indeed tells you that the backup battery needs changing .. if you cant find the battery give us the model number and we can help ... sometimes they are hard to find ..

Carbon monoxide detector err code

Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (It's not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon: Amazon com Carbon monoxide detector (watch out on reviews). I hope this was helpful. cheers
