You can cancel your Amazon order anytime you want before the delivery. If you have placed a order mistakenly, you can cancel it by following these steps -

Open Amazon and log into your account.
Go to Orders and tap on it.
Click on Cancel Items.
Select the item you wish to cancel.
After selecting the items confirm that you wish to cancel them. Click OK.
Your order will be canceled.

If you have already paid for the order, it will be refunded within 24 hours. If you are having issues in getting your refund, contact Customer Care Toll amazon support team and get complete information regarding your situation.

I would change the password for Amazon. That should do it

I made a mistake and ordered a book for a kindle but I don't have one so I need to cancel the order. By the way I ordered the book to be sent to me.

I have cancelled many things on Amazon, but not a digital order. You should be able to go into your Amazon account and cancel that order. I don't know how they would even process a kindle book if you don't have a device.

Orders that have not been shipped yet can be cancelled. Simply navigate to the Manage Orders section under the Orders tab. Once there a list of orders will be displayed. Simply,
