I started the self-cleaning function of my Maytag oven, locked the door, and then got a F5E1 error message about an hour before the self-cleaning was completed, and I can't get the door open yet.

Is the cleaning cycle still going? If you have a separate circuit breaker in the load center of your house for the range, you could simply turn the range off, set the circuit breaker to off, and then try to open the oven door. When you turn the breaker back on, the oven should behave normally. Do this before attempting moving the range no matter if it is electric or gas - gas lines can break when you move a range, so be prepared to turn off the gas shut off on the supply pipe near the flexible line if it should break, then get a new gas line and install it before turning the gas back on. If you are the least bit unfamiliar or don't feel confident doing this, get someone who is either a professional or someone you know that knows how to address gas appliances to move your range. If your range is electric only, then you will have no worries once you cut off the power and reset the oven to off - then turn the power back on.

SOURCE: Oven shut down during Self-cleaning

tde, sounds like your thermal fuse (TC0) opened on the back side of the oven. If this opens, it will shut the oven down. This happens alot during self cleaning on built ins. Sometimes I have to re-route the tco to a different area to prevent this from happening. Your part number is 4451442. You will have to pull the oven out far enough to remove the back paneling and replace the fuse....Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: oven door locked

First check to see if you activated the "child lock-out". See your manual to deactivate.

You could also try unplugging the unit, or trip the circuit breaker in your home which supplies power to the oven. Wait 5 minutes and turn power back on. This will reset the controls.

Good luck!

Why does the message F5E1 come up on the oven display after I auto-cleaned the oven. The oven is still locked. MOD: RF 265LXTY3, Serial #RW-1117104-X. I have a manual, but it doesn't tell anythi

The F5E1 message means that the door lock mechanism isn't working. This could be a fault at the lock, the mechanism or the wiring.

First press and hold Cancel to clear the error temporarily. Another code should appear. Press Cancel again to clear the second error. (Some models require unplugging the power cord to reset the code.)

To unlock the door, take a metal wire hanger and bend it. Slide it into the door opening and try to get the lock to move. (The lock is in the middle of the opening.) Then try to open the door. Otherwise, see below to see if you can unlock the door from the back of the unit.

You can check some of the parts by taking off the back panel and attempting to move the lock. Similarly check the motor and the cam that controls the lock. It should take a bit of force to move but not a lot.

I hope this helps.

I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL MODEL NUMBER RF368LXKQ RANGE AND WHEN I TRY THE SELF CLEAN BUTTON I GET F5E1 WHAT IS THE PROBLEM

Hello,

The F5E1 error codes means that the door light switch OR a switch on the self clean latch has failed. If the oven light comes on and goes off when the door is opened and closed it most likely going to be a switch on the latch thats the problem.

The part numbers are;

DOOR LATCH W10107830

LIGHT SWITCH 3195993

My oven code is F5E1 , my oven was in self clean , now the door is locked

F5E1 is door latch assembly. One way that may work to unlock is to turn circuit breaker to stove off for few seconds then turn back on and door lock should activate and unlock. If not you are going to have to replace the door lock assembly.

Oven door is locked and won't open

Sorry to hear the "self clean" Gremlins are at it again. Several things have happened, none good. During the cycle at full power for several hours, a circuit on the control board has failed. Various errors are now keeping functions from occurring normally, although sometimes door switches fail causing similar anomalies. At any rate 'self clean' eventually becomes 'self-destruct'. Boards run 150-300$ . Hope info helps- Thanks-ED

Tried to selfclean my NEW oven but get error message F5E1

Reading all the questions and responses - I had the same problem (would press "self clean", it would run for less then a minute then give the error message), so once I saw the code was E5F1 and what it meant (thanks for whoever posted that), I just pressed on the door for the first minute of the cycle, and self-cleaning then worked. Go figure :)

Whilrpool Self Cleaning Range Door won't unlock

try this 1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds.
Momentarily (less than 5 sec.) press CANCEL key again to remove error code
display.
2. Press and hold any key for 1 minute until F2 E0 code is displayed.
3. Cancel F2 E0 error code.
4. Program and start the clean mode. Observe to see if door locks. If it does not,
inspect the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to
find the cause of the problem. If the door is not locking, then 1 minute from the
start of clean, the F5 E1 code will again be displayed. Steps 1 through 3 will
have to be repeated before another clean can be started.
5. Once any mechanical problems with the latch mechanism have been corrected,
program and start a clean cycle (after, if necessary, clearing F5 E1 error code)
to ensure proper operation of the door lock. Immediately cancel the clean mode to observe proper operation of door unlock
