Question about Lenovo IdeaPad Computers & Internet

When laptop start window 10 boot screen come up and during the process after 15-20 seconds since the laptop was powered on the laptop get shut down.

Hello I am from India. My laptop wasn't charging up so to make sure whether it is related to my charger or the laptop charging slot I went to a local repair shop. But before that I removed the Hard drive and RAM. The guy at the repair shop connected his charger and power on my laptop. I told him not do so as RAM and Hard drive were not connected. But he did it. Later on I found it is an issue with my charger so I bought a new one( A local charger with same power rating as the original one). Now another issue arrived. Now when I came home and powered on my laptop after connected my drive and RAM, it power on and just after 15-25 seconds shut down. I tried removing the hard drive but still laptop shut down after 15-25 seconds so hard drive is fine , I removed RAM still same result so RAM is also working fine. There is no indication of CPU heating because fan is working properly and it is blowing cold air (which should be hot if cpu is heating up). So what is the problem. Is it a problem with vcore capacitor or I damaged my motherboard ? Laptop is Ideapad Z 580 2012 motherboard model - LZ3.

Hi Anuj Tahlan, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you.
moved you out of HIS cooling parts maker
the correct lenovo page (tah dah)
nice history there but what matters is noW.
so step one on all PCs like this is what.?

1: get rid if the huge battery first.
park it on a bench ,leave it on the bench now.

2: now does PC work? ok? ,batteries have super short lives, 1year can be(hard cold facts)'
learn that batteries can short too, not just dead.
the BIOS can not run with NO RAM.
so doing that proves not much.
but the charge chip can blink LED warnings.

IT may do post errors now, no ram but sure.
HDD out is valid test, and perfect here.
so it's not the OS nor is it the HDD.
    2 major parts discounted(real progress)
in fact now,,no hdd,you cold boot up.
a Linux demo media (free) on USB stick or DVD .
next AC pack can fail but if voltage out holds good, its NOT this, do you own a voltmeter
    or do you work blind?

your PC will run for ever on AC pack only
no huge battery present at all..
that is what we are doing NOW.
RCT is on cusp of failures.
if the RTC coin cell is dead this is 2nd test.
below 2.9vdc is no good.(dmm meter missing?)

see that is then 2nd battery that fails ,SEE?
if the PC dies, (shuts down)
    no HDD,
no huge battery it snaps out in 5 seconds and leave it out until the PC runs 100% perfect all the time, OK?.
new COIN if old test bad or own no voltmeter.
that means there is short on mobo
many laptop there are up to 8 modules to fail there.Im reading your spec,as i type.

the PC must not overheat. but you said no.
your PC is max 7 years old
    only true age maters,
and both batteries are over limit,on age.
IS THAT CLEAR , on facts.?

using google i find service manual 1st hit.
this PC has lots of parts inside
    parts (moduels) can short.
a short means in electical jargon, that the power, data/address/control lines are in gross overload state;.
for power a short cause the VRM to shut down fast in fact 1 second flat. or less.
    so a wise electronics tech(certified)
knows what to do,he or she then removes them all, 1 by 1, to CLEAR the short.
most things removed all use power,
so we pull the all 1 by 1.
CPU last, most times CPU never shorts.
unless hit by lightening. it is very robust the CPU.
    on my laptop vast things.
keyboard ,mouse pad , sure HDD/DVD
sure leave 1 stick of ram or try them all 1 by one is best but the PC need 1 stick to run right.
modem car throw away (dial if junk)
    wifi card out.
    card readers out.
    usb 3 aux cars, out'
    wlan 3G cards out.
get my drift? get it all out.

get the mobo down to 1 cpu 1 ram.
    does it still die?

we call that the strip down.
done vast times my me 50 years on the job
1964 to now. (including complex military systems. )

and the strip down, this page covers
    power fault isolation tests.
it really is not magic, all complex systems can fail like this.l

There is no indication of CPU heating because fan is working properly and it is blowing cold air (which should be hot if cpu is heating up).

this is NOT true at all
(can be if PC new, yours is NOT)][][
the heat from the CPU must flow past the TIM barrier compound to the heat pipe
then to the radiator then to the fan blows the hot air to the world.
if any point there fails ,the TIM, the RADidator, packed in lint the CPU will over heat,
the PC is now dead, totally, right
even with HDD removed the BOIS runs for 20secons and dies?
you must strip the PC down.
    all parts but
1: mobo and AC pack no huge battery
2: test Rtc COIN CELL FOR 2.9VDC AND ABOVE.

    Larry Ng Jan 23, 2019

    fact 2 , and myth.
some TIM gets old and cracks
this causes all CPU to overheat, and fan blows cold that is because the heat never gets to radiator device. (a thermodynamics thing)

the next is myth1, (NO RAM)
the CPU needs ram or can NOT process.
so BIOS is now dead, and with that the fan too.
malfunctions, fully or in part (regulation)
the other half of PCs made (designs, 101)
the mobo has power manager chip (and charger)
this chip is a magical, hidden thin CPU
    this chip is programmed (firmware)
to run the fan under any failure conditions
    (most) (I Crude way)
so how the fan behaves is way more complex than what seems at first glance.
(yes the fan controls are complex)

here is one tiny example of how these parts play.
15 second dead it caused by many things
    1: not just overheating.
2: the battery large is bad, remove it leave it out, run on AC pack only now its just 1 battery under suspision.
    3: shorted modules on mobo.(motherboard)
    we do isolation testing next.
4; bad power pack or wrong voltage.
5: power pack minimum wattage too low
More watts is always ok, below spec, not.
6: sure ram shorted but that is a module too
test ran 1 by 1, most have at least 2 sticks.
    7: bad mobo
i think i did most test above them, just for you.. cheers.
here page showning the full strip down an testing (easy on desktop, max pain on laps)

What is TIM
TIM, is Intel name for thermal interface compound
intel used Shin Etsu brand. the best there is.
Ive tested it personally, and dont read web rumors ever. about magic silver or other tripe.
on older processors. LIKE YUURs, some run very hot infact mine is hot now, old fast i7 CPU.
it runs 50C here this hot beach Im typing now.
(hint no Air conditioning here)
If the TIM goes hard,(like cracker) it cracks
and the CPU hits 90d and the CPU has self shutdown inside, it, some BIOS trip shut down at 80C'
see how all this works, to fix PC's you need all these facts and more, or go broke buying and replacing good parts.

I must use SHIN brand or the CPU overheats,
on the 90Watt intel CPU;s i have learned.
my new game PC runs cold all the time CORE gen7
night and day different CPU. on heat,
so here is how all techs, handle TIM
the Intel Core i5-3210M , is only 45watts
so may use any cheap grease i bet.(experience)

Grease is the word (no not disco)

covers the right way, wrong way and even crazy ways some derps do.(toothpaste and silly(

we clean the RAD first, i bet you 1000 rupee
a soda straw cant fix this lint,
this is series weakness on all laps,
the Radiator device, (likes like tiny car radiator)
in the inside (unseen) packs in lint,
it is for SURE the Achilles heal of all heat pipe fitted, laptops.

SOURCE: Compaq Presario R3000 not booting up

set the bios/cmos to boot first of your CD drive. get your support discs and restore to original. your hard drive OS has failed and needs to be re-installed. the problem maybe is that when you do that option you will get all your data erased. your solution to that since you can still get the data on the drive when used as external is to back it up. then full restore your system.

if you dont have your restore kit, you can use your Windows OS to fix it, repair option when you boot from CD.

Yes, if the CPU/motherboard will not POST (Power On Self Test), then changing the CPU is the only thing that you have not tried.

SOURCE: HP Pavillion dv6700 - black screen

Do the following without the battery inserted.

Let the computer sit with no battery for 24 hours. Do not put the battery in at all. Try using your original memory stick ONLY, with no hard drive and see if it will POST. If it does, insert the hard drive and try again. Could be the new memory...

Another thing you can try is reseating the processor. Turn the ZIF screw, take the processor out (WATCH THE PINS!!) and put back in GENTLY. Leave the memory in the computer, hard drive removed, try to power on.

These models have been known for bad motherboards. Contact HP and arrange to send it in. If you do enough digging on HPs website, you'll find the service advisory.

Try a "Cold-Start",Remove all media, DVD, CD, USB..etc., Remove AC plug, Remove Battery, Hold down on/off button for 10 seconds, Replace battery, Plug into AC outlet,Push on/off button and Start normally.
IF THAT FAILS, try F-8 during pre boot, try to get to safe mode, or F12 to enter restore /recovery. After each try cold start, remove battery during this process.

Starts up then shuts down within 3-5 seconds

is this happening everytime you start the machine? What is being displayed on the screen? Do you hear the fans running when you press the power button? Do you hear the disc drive running? Do you hear the cd drive click once and the light on the cd drive door come on for a second or two? Is it posting anything on the screen during the boot process? Is it getting to the actual windows desktop which is where you see your icons? Computers shut down for a reason. Either some piece of hardware is not working such as a fan, or some hardware is faulty (such as the memory, cpu or motherboard), or some software issue or a virus has taken over.

I press the power off button and it doesn't power off

You should never power down by pressing the power button unless your system is deadlocked and won't respond to any other actions. Powering off in this fashion can cause you to lose data, corrupt files, and improperly shut down Windows.

Nonetheless, if you are in need of shutting down the laptop in this fashion you must hold the power button instead of only pressing it. You'll find this in the power settings of the device. Honestly, the power button may even be set to do nothing, which is possible.

To properly shut down your new Pavilion laptop, which should be running Windows 7, follow this process: Click Start > Shut Down

Start is now simply a circular Windows icon in the bottom left corner of the screen and shut down has an arrow pointing down next to it. Click the words shut down instead of the arrow which will bring up other power save options.

Computer freezes after bios screen on every restart.

One thing you could check is what order your computer is booting from. CD drive hard drive then other. Should be hard drive first. Go into the bios to do that. If you hold the power button down for 5 to 10 seconds the machine should physically shut down rather than unplugg. The unplug thing sounds like its in the power settings. But I've never heard of power settings being connected to bootup except for a password. Anyway a wild guess is check the bios bootup order.

How to reset a laptop CY25?

Windows XP, right? Click on start, shutdown and then restart!

Is the laptop frozen? Hold down the power button for about 5-10 seconds until power shuts off. Just press the power on again to get it to start back up. Make sure you can NOT reset soft before cycling power on your laptop because you can lose/corrupt data during a cold boot.

Hope this helps,
