Why does my hoover belt keep snapping?

Hello! Your belt will need to be replaced about twice a year. If your belt is breaking within a couple uses of you changing it, you may not have the correct belt for your vacuum. Double check the owner's manual or Hoover.com to verify the belt number for your vacuum. Always replace the belt with a genuine Hoover belt. Hope this helped!

Brushes don't spin

Hello :
try this please : switch the carpet/bare floor dial back & forth 5 times, ending on carpet. Tilt the handle back as if to vacuum upright & lay the vacuum on its side so it is resting on the side opposite the carpet/bare floor dial. Turn the vacuum on.
or try this also if the above suggestion didn't work :
Maybe the belt is broke. You will have to replace the belt before the roller can spin. You must have run over something in the carpeting like string or whatever to have it break. Happens all the time. Get several replacement belts to keep as spares while you're at it as nothing is worse then having to vacuum and no spare belts.

How to change belt on Hoover DM6227T

Hi Diane
There are two options here; Go to the Hoover UK website and download the user manual (http://service.hoover.co.uk/manuals/Manuals.aspx?Section=6) and add in the DM6227 code and number without the T letter. The pdf downloadable (and free) user manual will upload to your computer.

Or follow this method:
There are two rear screws on the top of the hood of which you'll have to swing the handle all the way down to reveal both screws at the back of the top hood. Undo these screws and put them in a safe place. Then gently prise off the main control selector height dial and the top hood should be able to pop off easily. Then you'll main roller brush should be revealed as well as the broken belt.

Once the belt is removed, clean the brush roll of any threads or hairs that have stuck the bristles down. Then fit new belt, align the roller bar properly including the new drive belt and then refit the top hood back on, snap fitting down, two screws in and gently refit the control dial height adjuster back on making sure the front raised part of the dial knob is facing the Hoover.

Anything else don't hesitate to contact.

The hoover belt number you listed (38528027) has been changed by Hoover to 38528040. Below I have listed a link to the manual that has instructions and a link to the belt you need. Hope this helps!

The belt on my hoover cordless is not spinning when I turn it on

You need to replace the belt. Even though the belt may look fine it can be stretched and therefore it won' t turn the roller brush against the resistance of the carpet. You can get Hoover replacement belts here:

How do I replace the drive belt in the hoover u6401?

Remove the plate from the vacuum's underside. You will see fourscrews or two clips that attach the plate to the vacuum. Removingthe plate will give you access to where the belts are running. Remove the old belts and replace with new belts. The hoover self-propelled models use two different belts. One is a flat belt Hoover #38528035 and the other is a V belt Hoover #38528034. You can find these belts at www.vacbelts.com on these pages:
