Bathing suits and bikinis are a source of great stress for some people.
It doesn't matter how good the celebrities look in the magazines in their designer bikinis - most people worry a lot about the way they look at the pool.
I've written a guide below for different body types so you can work out what kind of swimwear will best flatter your individual shape.
Firstly you need to read through the different types and figure out what category your body shape fits in to.
Ultimately you should be sitting by the pool feeling good about your swim wear and not be feeling self conscious.
- If your top half is much bigger than your bottom half it can be really hard to find something suitable.
- Go for mix and match separtes or a costume that has gathered fabric at the waist. You're looking to create a division between your chest and hips.
- You need to look for bikinis that play up the bustline. Bright patterns and bottom halves that are high waist will help make your legs the focal point and yet still be feminine.
- If you're pear shaped you can use cut away shapes and and unusual shapes to flatter that parts of your body that you are confident with ie your waist whilst drawing attention away from wider hips.
- Plus-size women are enjoying swim wear that comes with a skirt attached. examples are swimdresses or using a sarong. You can them emphasize cleavage etc but not overly focus on areas you might feel self conscious about in a swim suit such as thighs.
- Avoid over patterned materials.
