Bearings faulty or another fault this model suffers from is the concrete balance weight retaining bolts shake loose, if it is the bolts tighten up as soo as possible. Regards Advisor

SOURCE: How to replace drum bearing for hotpoint aquarius+ wf740

My machine is just over 3 years old and although there is no play in the rear drum bearing it is very noisey on spin.
It gets progessively loud the faster the spin speed.

SOURCE: Hotpoint Aquarius WMA54 very noisy during spin

Hi, if your H/P is noisy on the spin cycle, just open the door and turn the drum a few times. If you feel some play, or kind of loud huming noise, then it is the bearings, very, very common on H/P WMA's.

SOURCE: Noisy spin on hotpoint aquarius WF530 6kg washing machine. Suspect bearing how do I replace them.

If you spin the drum by hand, and it is niosy and rumbling then the main drum bearings have failed.
If under 5 years old, then you should be able to get it repaired under Hotpoint 5 year guarantee, You just pay for labour and call out, cheapest option, it is not really a D.I.Y job, as it is quite involved, and entails a lot of work.

Thanks.

I have a Hotpoint WF540 washing machine. When it goes into fast spin, the spin cycle is quite noisy....on slow spin it is fine......could this be a bearing problem? If so how easy are they to replace?

Sounds like drum bearings most cases you need to buy half drum with bearings fitted if your very good at diy no problem if not call engineer.1st check concrete weights are not loose top and bottom.............you can buy parts @ espares.co.uk this will give you idea of cost which maybe quite high.

Drive belt on hotpoint wm56 keeps coming off when machine goes on fast spin. I have fitted a new belt but it still keeps happening.

Make sure belt is reasonably tight, and it is in the center of the drum pulley, if it still comes off, then I would suspect that the drum bearings are worn, or the drum is running out of alighnment, or the motor bearings are worn, if it is noisy when you spin the drum by hand, then the bearings have definately failed.

Very noisy on spin

hello there.....the noise you hear is most likley due to failed drum bearings or something trapped in the drum....test as follows....isolate machine....open the door...test the drum for up and down lift...there should be no movement at all....if all is well here...remove the lid and remove drive belt....spin the drum by hand and listen for any bearing noise (rumble). or metallic sound of something trapped in drum..if all is well here refit the lid temp...Then select spin and start machine...if motor is noisy then the problem is with the motor bearings

Hotpoint WMA35 - Noisy on spinning

This could be the bearings.

If it is you have two options:
1 - Buy another washing machine
2 - DIY possible for about £30 with all the RIGHT TOOLS, £100 if doing it properly. And even with the right tools this will take you about 3 hours, probably more.

To replace the bearings you NEED to have:
1) The parts - The replacement bearing kit (£30) and hotpoint recommend a new spider (£65) as well.
2) A tool to push the drum shaft from the casing.
3) A tool to remove the beaings. It is possible to buy a new rear casing with the bearings already fitted for about £70.
4) Patience and a supply of tea!

Method
1 - disconnect everything and I mean everything see number 2.
2 - remove the drum casing from the chasis
3 - take off the pulley wheel
4 - open the casing
5 - remove the drum from the casing. DO NOT USE A HAMMER as the shaft deforms very easily (good job I've a new "spider"!)
6 - fit new "spider" if using. Here is where you find the bolts are rusted completely solid from spider to drum and require drilling out.
7 - remove bearings from casing (hence the need for the bearing removal tool)
8 - fit new bearings and rebuild machine (hence the need for the bearing fitting tool)

However I stopped at number 7 due to not having the right tools and I have no idea how much the right tools cost.

Trust me, take option one! £100 is a third of a new machine!
