K i have both a 2004 and 2007 vulcan 1600 classic. I was riding the 07 one day in town n just as i pulled up to where i was going the Fi light came on i shut it off went in was there bout 15 min cam out checked oil and coolant both fine started it n no light. I left went bout a mile while doing bout 25mph it died...restarted it went for bout min n died. now thats all it will start it let idle and in bout 1 to 2 min it dies...or if start it and give it throttle it will still die...wondering if it was fuel pump i actually swapped the whole tank from the 04 same thing has new fuel pump relay..talked with couple kawi dealers only thing they can think of is the ECU
I rekon when ya changed the tank over it had rust in it and has contaminated yer fuel lines, pump and carby with bits o rust. So rip off the tank, lines, pump and carby and give em all a good clean, reassemble and yer all good to go.
Testimonial: "no cause i swapped the tanks after the 07 started doing this and when it still did it with the 04 tank fuel pump etc. i swapped them back ...the 04 was running fine and still is"
SOURCE: truck starts, dies. truck runs good some days, bad the next
I had the same problem with My 1990 F150 300 6cylinder 4x4.....I cahnged all the same things you did, finally I sprayed a can of Gumout through the throttle body and it worked and ran great. Now I add fuel injector cleaner to the gas and a regular clean with the gumout and the problem has'nt come back. Good Luck to you and hope it works!
SOURCE: Starts fine when cold, after running dies on idle then wont start
Sounds like the fuel filter is dirty and needing to be changed. It's cheap and easy to swap out.

You need 3 basic principles for your vehicle to start fuel/air, timing and spark. You stated it seems like there is no ignition at all. First, I would pull the easiest spark plug attach the plug wire and set it on the manifold and have someone crank your vehicle with you watching the plug to check for a spark you should have a white/blue spark which denotes a high voltage. Next i'd check for fuel pressure, if you have both i would get a obd (on board diagnostic)scanner and check for trouble codes with koeo (key on engine off) if that doesn't produce any codes check your fuses and most importantly if your oil level on the dipstick was dry its going somewhere whether its a leaking gasket a crack in the engine or blow by figure out where
SOURCE: 91 Jeep wrangler New everything idles rough, no Power then dies
you check for miss how is compression
SOURCE: My Mazda mx3 starts up idles for a couple seconds then dies.
Before you replace the fuel pump, I would check the cheaiper parts first. Such as fuel filter and injectors.
