SOURCE: how to connect a motorola DCH3416 to a computer

Nope...

The eSATA ports are not configured in the device's firmware, and the USB 2.0 ports are useless except for charging your iPod or powering a USB fan. If you could connect an external drive to the unit, it would be partitioned with data encryption that can only be accessed by the particular DVR that formatted the drive. You can however stream local channels to a video capture card via the firewire ports but cable channels and DVR recorded programs would be encrypted. You can thank the MPAA for the grief...

SOURCE: Normal Picture Mode Not Available With Cox HD-DVR (Motorola DCH3416) and HDMI Cable

With an HDMI cable connected, the cable box determines the picture size. The settings on the cable box must be changed in order for you to get the correct picture size. I have some experience with Motorola cable boxes; usually to access the settings you turn the box OFF and then press the menu or settings button on the box to bring up the display menu. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Need help hooking up TV, BluRay, Home Theatre & cable box

I found that since the Panasonic TH50PZ80U TV has only 2 HDMI ports on the back of the TV, the best solution for me was to use component (red, blue, green) cables to connect the Home Theatre to the TV. I suppose I/you could connect the home theatre to the HDMI port on the front panel, but I don't want cables hanging out the front of the TV (personal preference). Unfortunately, I am no longer able to use the VIERA Link functionality available by connecting all Panasonic components to each other using HDMI cables, but I feel it's a small price to pay for the incredible picture quality acheived by using the HDMI cable to connect the HD Cable Box to the TV. I may yet be able to control everything using the HD Cable Box remote, but I haven't gotten that far yet but I've got Comcast coming on Saturday and hopefully they can let me know if this is possible: let me know if you have a solution.

So here are the components and the cable types used to connect:

  1. HD Cable Box to TV: HDMI cable & Optical Audio cable
  2. Home Theatre to TV: Red, Blue & Green component cables
  3. BluRay Player to TV: HDMI cable
I hope this helps someone else.

SOURCE: two tvs off Motorola DCH3416

If you have different input options on your TVs, you could run the second TV with the Y, Pb,Pr component outputs along with the analog audio from the STB. However, remember the STB will only support ONE output video format. So both TV will have to be set to the same video format (720p, 1080i, 480p, etc)

What cable is needed to stream Netflix to a Macbook?

If you want to use a TV as a secondary or mirrored monitor. All you would need is a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter. Use the adapter to connect an HDMI cable between your computer and the TV. Once connected you will have an option to use it as a secondary or mirrored (exact copy of what is on your laptop) monitor. If you have one of the newer macbook pros you need a Mini Display port to HDMI adapter.

How to stream media from macbook pro to lg smart tv

From what I can see, there is no way to stream to this TV from any computer. You'll most likely have to buy an adapter cable to allow you to connect your Macbook Pro to one of the HDMI ports of the TV.

Hi, I'm wondering if you can help, I have a Sony DCR-TRV340E camcorder and wish to take the video footage from one of the tapes and record/stream it onto my MacBook pro. I've tried using the USB cable...

*reason for not streaming the video: its because you're using the wrong type of cable to stream it to a macbook

*type of cable needed: you need a firewire cable to stream videos from your camcorder to your macbook.

*please make sure to check if your macbook has a firewire(IEEE) port on it and also make sure what type of firewire port it has( 4 pin or 6 pin firewire port)

*check your macbook specification for a firewire port and make sure to check how mny pinslot it has before buying a firewire cable.

* the other end of a firewire cable would surely fit the camcorder and the other end would depend on the firewire port available in your macbook.

* you would also be needing an application on your macbook that would record streamed videos.

Looking for the meaning of error code on the CED DUI or DU1 for a DCH3416

DUI is actually trying to display DVI on the box (the LED won't display the V and makes it a U). You typically see this error when your connected to your TV through an HDMI cable and the handshake for HDPC is lost. The box thinks your TV doesn't support it and wants you to change your connection. The error should go away once it finds that handshake. If you were using a different input on your TV, maybe a composite or something for a DVD, and then switch back it can get lost. If it doesn't clear right away try shutting everything off and turning it back on by turning on the TV first and then the box.

Can i connect my motorola dch3416 dvr to my laptop and save programs that i recorded to my hard drive?

Hi,

Motorola DCH3416 has an USB port to connect to a PC. But you can't copy the files from DVR to laptop, they are encrypted and locked down, even if you opened the box and pulled out the drive you wouldn't be able to get a PC to recognize the format or copy the files off the drive.

(You can not connect data devices without contacting your service provider.
Because the Digital Rights Management (DRM) laws instituted by the entertainment industry prohibit the movement of copyrighted content from one system to another.)

Hope this helps

I want to hook up an external hard drive to increase the record time available for my Motorola DCH3416 cable box. I already have drives with eSata, USB, and firwire ports.

From the Motorola FAQs:

How do I transfer my programs from my Motorola DVR to an external device like a computer or hard drive? trnsp.gif Question How do I transfer my programs from my Motorola DVR to an external device like my computer or hard drive?
trnsp.gif Answer No. Currently you can't offload recorded content to any external device from a Motorola DVR, even though the data ports are there, the software doesn't support it yet. When the option becomes available through a software upgrade, it will be downloaded to DVR automatically by service providers/cable companies.
