My LG refrigerator ice maker is not working correctly. The ice tray fills up and freezes but will not empty into the ice bin.
Don't buy LG refrigerator. The product is horrible. my brand new fridge is giving trouble in a span of 5 months of purchase.
It usually costs more in labor and parts to repair an ice maker.
I suggest swap it out with a new one.

Colenoid in the ice dispenser may be clogged or have a small amount of trash in it. Is there a filter on before the fridge (just after the ice maker shutoff)?

I was able to order the ice tray myself and install it in the fridge - it's not hard. I ordered from one of the parts sellers linked to at the LG website, not those listed in other posts here.
Here's how to replace the tray:
You need to remove the tray dumping mechanism to do this.
That's it. You can press that test button on the underside of the motor. This will dump the tray and immediately refill it with water so you can observe if everything is working.

If the water enters as if it were on a timed basis it would be clear that your ice maker either needs rebuilt or replaced. All signals are sent to the water control valve from the ice maker. The ice maker if working properly will begin its cycle when the thermostat tells the icemaker to begin by heating the elements below the ice maker to warm slightly to loosen the ice from their ice slots. After that any confusion would be in the front of the ice maker to tell the water to come on before the ice maker emptys its ice and begins a 7 second refill of water. Congratulations, you have very good water pressure. I am not aware of any adjustment for the time the fill solenoid opens. The easiest thing I can suggest is to adjust the water flow with the supply valve. If you have the typical saddle valve, it has quite a taper to the piercing needle, and you could possibly use that to reduce the water flow, thus the volume of the fill. A little trial and error will be needed to find the right number of turns for the valve to be opened. I also recommend a water filter in the line to reduce contaminants, which makes the ice taste better. The filter should be replaced every 6-months or so depending on the amount of impurities.

1. icemaker is not level. (check and re-level)
2. icemaker has a crack in the mold.(replace i/m)
3. Water level set too high.(remove front cover and adjust water level screw counterclockwise)
