SOURCE: TORPEDO KEROSENE HEATER DOES NOT STAY LIT. I

The fact that it lights up at all should tell you its not the ignitor. Does the unit have a thermostat? What temp do you have it set at? Does the unit blow into a corner or some way that the therostat is being activated to cut out by the hot air getting back to it before the rest of your space gets warm? There are so many questions.Does the flame go out first,or does the power to fan kik out with the flame? This could be related to a faulty or out of position tip over cut out, witch is for safety.I'm going to help you by teaching you to help yourself. Troubleshooting is a series of tests. Most every machine is nothing but a bunch of valves, and switches.First find out if its running out of fuel,,or cutting operation all together. If its running out of fuel to the firing rack you be able to see and hear it,,,NOTICE that it looks and sounds like its petering out.If its cutting fuel, fan, and power instanly then its most likely the thermostat shutting it off ,,or the tipover cutout. It could be a multitude of things. The best way to find out is to figure out how the machine works,,,understand the componits that make it up and what they do,,then single them out one at a time and test them to eliminate them from the list of possible problems. UNDERSTAND? If the ignitor clicks and the rack lights up,,,its not the ignitor, after all the ignitor IS igniting. Find out more about whats up with it and repost,,good luck bud.

First thing is to download the service manual.

http://www.desaparts.com/service_manuals.html

You need to make sure the filters are clean and that you are getting the proper air pump pressure.

If the units starts up and runs good and slowly goes out it will normally be due to a lack of fuel getting to the nozzle. When there is not enough fuel being delivered to the nozzle from either a clogged fuel filter of dirty air pump output filter the unit will slowly shut down from lack of fuel.

If the unit shuts down while it is running properly and the nose come is orange then you probably have a problem with a photocell or the flame out control.

If you have other questions you can contact our service department at 269-685-4125 at extension 224

Thanks

Propane torpedo lights but doesnt stay lit

I'm confused. First you listed this as a propane torpedo heater. Second, it's a problem with and All Pro PK115 T Forced Air Kerosene Space Heater. And finally, you say "propane torpedo lights but doesn't stay lit."

Which is it? To really help you, I'll need the correct manufacturer's name & model number. And whether it's propane or kerosene fired?

Thanks.
